Industrial noise and wildlife

So I remember a year or 2 ago someone saying they were set up for archery before daylight, and with daylight coming machinery started up close by so they shut down their hunt.
Yesterday I was working on a new cement plant that had not yet started up, and a new portable plant had been wheeled in to begin production. First light, the new plant, quite noisy, starts running. Not 1 hour later 3 deer come wandering out in the open and walk by about 100 yards from the new noise they had never been climatized to, and just loped by unconcerned. Not an hour later, a couple jakes were out in the open scraped flat rock, not 50 yards from where the machinery was running.
Just goes to show how wildlife can be so unpredictable, if not curious.
Don't shut down your hunt just because you think noise might have pooched your hunt, wild animals do not all think alike.

One of my spots is close to a sawmill. Doesn't seem to bother the wildlife at all. Even when voices announce over the PA.

We had a huge buck chasing 3 does 20 yards away in daylight while driving sheets with a vibro hammer that averages 120db+ on one job, even stopped to take a look at us. This was close to the city so maybe that had something to do with it but we've had plenty of wildlife hanging around on bridge jobs including coyotes and a wolf.

A few years ago a friend and I were doing some target shooting on crown land using tannerite. We had made a lot of noise. It was only about 15 minutes after we finished shooting that a black bear walked up within 50ft of where we were sitting. I think sometimes they come in to see what all the commotion is about. As the saying goes curiosity killed the cat

I think wildlife gets used to the noise. Like turkeys or deer near a road they get used to the sound and scenery but as soon as something changes like you stopping your car to take a look all of a sudden they know your there and start moving off. Like this guy I know that lives on a farm the turkeys walk around his house and work shop while he's working but if you stop working and start watching them they leave LOL

I ran a log skidder for friends of my parents one summer when I was in school. It wasn't uncommon to see a Moose or two standing off to one side watching us. The noise of the diesels seemed to be bring them in.

I agree that Wildlife become accustomed to industrial noise. A couple of my stands are very close to an open-pit gold mine… I think the noise (backup beepers especially) bothers me more than anything.

Have to agree. A few years back I was working on the ranges, sometimes out on the ATV in the woods. As long as you stayed sitting on the ATV it wouldn't bother the deer, get off and it was a stampede to get outa Dodge.

few years back I was on the quad driving up a trail, saw a big buck about 60yds off watching me. I was going slow so as I went behind a tree I slid off the bike and grabbed my rifle out of the holder, loaded it and leaned out from behind tree. It was gone, it saw the bike had no one on it I guess and took off.

And I bet you shut the Quad off right? Big mistake if you did. I learned that many years back, that change of sound freaks them out.

when we go for the controlled hunt, my dad in his old age takes the ATV in the morning to his blind, on the way back with the headlights on you can see deer on the bush line EVERYWHERE on the field edge feeding, weve drove within 50ish yards and thell just watch you pass by and continue to eat.

in the monrings on my way to my stand on the other side ive had deer follow me through the field lol.

Just fire up your chainsaw and deer will come to see what's going on.

Gregger17, no I let it running and in gear and it went fare distance before in stopped up against a tree, figured it saw I wasn't on the bike and took off.
