I’m headed to Pelee for the third hunt
Was on the island for my first time on hunt one, was pretty awesome our group of 4 shot our 40 birds by noon on day 2 could have had a lot more if we had more guys in our place. A lot of crops standing and lots more no hunting signs then I expected but all in all was a awesome time. very neat place to hunt
We did get lucky and shot 18 out of one field by walking the 3 fence rows around it.
Appreciate the update! We haven't been to Pelee since covid. So we are excited to get back out there. Heading there for the clean up hunt. I'm curious about the no hunting signs. We never seen that before pre-2019. Landowner changes maybe? Do they no longer provide the map when you purchase your license?
2nd hunt was unseasonable warm on Thursday, too hot on Friday and a perfectly cool fall day on Saturday. Plenty of birds, strong flyers and runners. Dog is still recuperating. Plenty of room for everyone. Several fields were being harvested over the weekend, opening up more opportunities.
When politics get involved, everything goes to pot.The hunting signs are a direct result of the municipality's failure to address the issue.
1. Pelee has a pheasant hunting committee
On this board, there is only 1 pheasant hunter.
It's like a bachelor with no children being on the PTA
2. When this pattern of no hunting signs started , no one from the municipality went to visit the landowners in question to ask and address their concerns, which is how you would deal with this or any issue. Most things can be resolved in this manner and Nothing can or will be resolved by ignoring .I know, I asked. They ignored.
3. The island has a long upstanding history with this pheasant hunt.Landowners who participated got a break on thier taxes. So those that post, should pay more. This did not happen.I know, I asked.
The bottom line is , the municipality did nothing and as such , one could see exactly that the result will negatively impact the pheasant hunt more and more in the near future.
Pelee 2nd main hunt, plus a couple from Tiny:

`looks like some great times there
I love your dog’s smug facial expression in that one picture Derek.
tough hunting the clean up this year. we had to grind it out until the last day to get our birds. most guys we talked to struggled to even get their limit. we still had a blast but im curious how the next clean up hunt goes. we did put up 4 woodcock which was cool.
very nice pictures. Always love dog pictures with them doing their thing or just sitting with their downed game.
Congrats thanks for sharing
