With the conclusion of the December controlled hunt, I'd like like to add a saddle mount (for a red dot) and sling mounts to my Remington 870 Wingmaster 12G.
I've been looking at the Weaver No Gunsmith Shotgun Saddle Mount and the only option I can seem to find for a sling mount set (magazine cap and mount to be tapped/screwed into the stock) is no-name made in China package from Amazon.
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations.

For what it’s worth, I went the saddle mount route and found accuracy suffered a lot. I went with a cantilevered barrel and it’s been much better in terms of accuracy.
I put a saddle mount on my sx3 as the metal was to thin to tap and mount fixed. I put it on about 4 years ago and have never taken it off works great.
I agree with this. If you are keeping the gun as a dedicated slug gun, then a saddle mount is o.k. But if you plan to remove the saddle mount to use the gun with bead sights or whatever, you will spend a lot on slugs to re-sight it in when you put the saddle mount back on. After getting a cantilevered barrel, my saddle mount is collecting dust.Quote:

I bought a Leopold brand saddle mount for my 870. The mounting screws replaced the factory two punch pins that are on the receiver. All this crap about saddle mounts, slug shotguns, trying to find slugs, cantilevered barrels, etc. goes away if you buy a muzzleloader. A cheap $400 Thompson Center Omega will shoot MOA groups at 100yds, every time. One shot = one dead deer every time. I ditched the shotgun over 30 years ago and would never go back.
We hunt through deer drives, I haven't shot a muzzleloader before, but assume a follow-up shot on a running deer would be difficult if I went that route
I have my 11-87 and a WingMaster 870 set up with cantilever barrels and Bushnell Red/Green Dot scopes and every year during a test fire before the hunt they are bang on ! Remington's are great for after market add on's or modifications and finding a barrel should be easy. Hastings is another mfg. of barrels for Remington's. Sabot slugs aren't cheap but I am so for me 5 bucks to test the gun and 5 bucks to fill my Tag works for me. Nowadays most of my hunting is done from a wood platform built up in a tree so I usually have the luxury of time to set up my shot but when I was a dogger the 870 had a 21 inch IC barrel with Challenger Rifled Slugs, cheap, nasty and easy to use. Uncle Mikes makes Sling Kits for all kinds of guns and are easy to install. Your local gun shop should carry them or try Shooters Choice, Ellwood Epps, Triggers & Bows, etc..
