Moose season is sneaking up!

Every year it’s the same thing. I make plans to get out and scout and cut some trails before the season and before I know it, it’s show time. Lately the 48 hours prior to heading out are a real scramble trying to get stuff done around the house while prepping for the trip.

I was going to take the day off today and hit the woods but I had to travel out of town for 3 days for meetings. Maybe I will get a chance next week. Man, life can be so busy sometimes!

Anyone running around like a chicken with its head cut off?

I can relate. So much hunting to do so little time to actually hunt! :(

By Murphys law, all hell breaks loose during last work week before heading out - always. Luckily, I packed the weekend before , so work till last minute then jump in truck and turn off my phone [emoji2957]

I guess you have to retire .... -:)

Yes, I can also relate to all of the above!
No matter how "organized" I manage to be on any given year, there will ALWAYS be something that I forget. >:-/
Any predictions about when the rut can start this year?

Think these warm temps are going to have the moose doing a lot of night time love making and fighting and not moving much during the day if these temps continue, Saturday Opener looks toasty for them guys on the Northern most units but sure some bulls still come to the call for someone.
Hopefully come Oct 12 some are still interested in some cow calls.

Archery hunters hunting September 21-26 usually get great responses to calling, especially first thing in the morning. The post rut phase is in place by the time gun season starts so mature bulls are slow and cautious about responding to calls. IMO yearling bulls are more apt to respond at that time of the year.

I need to get out and scout! bull tag this year! Plan on front stuffer hunting so Ill need to be close!

Thanks for the tips Sam! We will be out for a bull October 5 to 11, and it will be a full-time adventure. :D
