We're getting a lot of bot attacks which we're troubleshooting.
Thank you for your continued patience; we appreciate it can be mighty frustrating.
Connectivity to the site is getting worse for me. I'm regularly struggling to connect to the forum or navigate it.
Most of this week I've been getting the database error. Is it just me?
Every morning for the last 7 days for me as well. And from time to time for the last year or so.Quote:

Given the political nature of OOD and the significant anti-hunting contingent out there plus bad actors that would like to know who likely owns guns, the site should be behind something like Akamai to protect it from attacks.
I do not know why but I have never had this database error. Just finished switching from an ancient PC with Win7 Pro to a new laptop with Win 11 Pro and still nothing. I go on at least once a day and have been using Mozilla Firefox with both systems. Have I just been lucky?

I was reading about all these problems but not experiencing them. Now I seem to have not just the database error but a bunch of others.
Where I used to get on at around 4:00 a.m. now I usually just get a blank screen. I have tried waiting and sometimes after 5 minutes it shows up, other times I could wait until the cows come home. I have tried until late afternoon and if I do get on I have a bunch of problems - database error shows up, - sight works fine and then suddenly freezes up, - anything Meaghan posts with a link brings up the database error, - things are working fine and then suddenly freezes up when I tap on any heading. Every day there seems to be something else but these are the one I can remember. I go on a ton of other sites every day and have had zilch issues with any of them. If there is a problem with other sites it is usually reported and gone the next day,. I enjoy the sight and would be happy to throw $10.00 in the pot if someone can convince me it will enable the fix or fixes needed. I think it may need more than this as $1000 - $1500 may not go far enough to clean up the mess.

It's off and on all day long. I will be moderating with 30 or 40 members on line and the system freezes. When I refresh, I am the only one on line. That must mean those 30 or 40 members got booted and have to log back in. The system is very broke.
I never log out anymore, just refresh when it crashes.
Just chiming in to say that this is happening to me as well.
For the past couple weeks I would say it's almost impossible to get in and read in the first half of the day, after lunch, I can access the site and read most of the threads with the odd data base error.
