Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

My suggestion is that the moderators of this forum and administrators need to be aware of the provisions of this document and I have pasted a little IA to help them out.


3. Social Media Platforms and the Charter:

• Social media platforms are seen as a means of communication and expression, subject to the same protections and limitations as other forms of media.
• While platforms have their own terms of service and moderation policies, they must respect the Charter rights of their users.
• Banning a user or censoring their content for reasons that are not justified under section 1 of the Charter could potentially raise concerns about freedom of expression.

In essence, the Charter protects freedom of expression on social media, but this freedom is not unlimited. It can be limited by law for justifiable reasons, such as preventing hate speech or protecting individuals from harm, but any limitations must be reasonable and demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.

The Canadian charter of rights are nothing more than privileges that can be taken away at will by government.
The covid-19 plandemic showcased how Canada has become an authoritarian state.

No, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms generally does not apply to private online forums or private actions. The Charter primarily applies to government actions, not private individuals or organizations.
As long as you follow the rules of this board that you agreed to, you will be fine.

Another classic example is the OIC banning thousands of hunting firearms simply because they look scary. The singular phrase that negates the entire charter is "....except where prescribed by law" used when the OIC was implemented with the stroke of the Governor General's pen demanded by the virtue-signaling PM.

The point is its not fine to ban my freedom of expression on two sections here off topic and politicts. A perfect example was my posting back to a thread on Firearms yesterday and that same thread then being transfered to Off Topic, where I could no longer reply and looks like I am ghosting forum members by not replying to them.

I have just e mailed your legal counsel Mr Tim Danson to review my complaint and request you cease and desist this censorship.

I have not engaged in any hate speech, defamation or even breached any forum rules, my comments on the Firearms post were not deleted by the moderator but he then transferred the thread to a section I can not exchange or express my views.

Nothing should be done by OIC with respect to these bans, any changes to the firearms laws should be going through Parliament. With that being said the Liberals only missed a majority by three seats or so, I suppose they could jam anything through if they had won a majority in that case.

Think how dull this forum would become if we could not exchange ideas like we are doing now and make positive change. I was another member who wrote the Goverment as a Liberal supporter, in support of keeping my semi auto rifle.

Offensive language, including all racial, ethnic or sexual slurs, as well as personal attacks, including name-calling and insults directed at other forum members is prohibited.

Controversial, religious or political threads deemed inappropriate or needlessly provocative will be removed without warning.

Personal insults, inappropriate or offensive content, the incitement of violence, or disrupting behaviours, which are detrimental to discussions in the forum will not be tolerated.

Personal attacks on members, cyber bullying, libel comments or bashing/slandering of businesses, organizations, individuals or corporations will not be tolerated. Threads deemed to be an attempt to "stir the pot" or are looking for support on their attack will be removed.

Thank you to those who provide meaningful contributions to this online community, from the staff of OOD. And to the mods, in particular, for their exemplary efforts in maintaining it.

So what you expect is the OOD's lawyer to counsel his client on limits in response to a request from a member of its online web forum. That's is perhaps the dumbest thing I've heard.

Well Jason thanks very much for your reply and please allow me some comment. I expect to to sanctioned like anybody else on this forum for a breach of the rules above.

However that is not what my concern here is, by simply BANNING a long time member here of the Political and Off Topic sections it appears that the moderators and you yourself are anticipating some
inflamatory political posts, so best not even allow a member to post period. That is where I believe you have a breached my charter rights to free expression.

can and they have supressed freedom of speech just because they do not like it.

If you can point out posts where I expressed hatred or defammation please show them.

If your forum is for Conservative party supporters only, then please state that up front and let us all know.

I have been on here since 2008 and have read hundreds of inflamatory posts over the years, yet not all of those members expressing them were either sanctioned or banned, how come?

The OOD lawyer who knows the law has been informed of a concern on a website owned by his client. If the lawyer agres with my point of view and can see that his client may be breaching the charter I am pretty sure he would advise them to cease and desist. If he does not see a breach and is not concerned then so be it. Its not the dumbest thing you have heard as you actually read it and think its dumb.

I'll take the opportunity to remind you that previous admins and mods have also blocked your access because of violations. They were then restored out of good faith by current admin and mods, and then had to be revoked again. Please note your overall Community access is currently being considered.

If you are considering a total ban that really would be a sad resolution to this matter, but would just be another long time forum member gone.

BTW Around 2019 would have been about the time I got a e mail asking me to consider the position of Moderator, pretty sure I had a few demerit points back then.

It would be a sad resolution to the matter. One need only to refrain from adding jabs, taunts, and inflammatory language to their comments to resolve the situation. You acknowledge since 2019 there has been an inability to follow the rules so what hope is there that you'll follow them now? Your choice is simple stay and enjoy the outdoor forum you initially joined without a political section or leave and find a forum that better fits your needs.

To the mods and manager:

Get Danson to give you a copy of this whackadoo letter and post it here. We could use the laugh.

The Liberals were only three seats shy of a majority. The NDP,although,now without official party status are still the king makers.....believe it or not. The government can still ram through anything they want with their support. There's no doubt in my mind that the PM intends to do just that.

I have not acknowledged any such thing, I said that I was offered the position of Moderator round about 2019, thats all. The loss of so many members has been the moderators INTERPRETATION of what is a violation. I think what you and others might be missing is that after 10,000 posts a poster would have to be an angel to not have acquired a few demerit points, in fact I am sure there is none on here.

As opposed to some folks who came on here out of the blue, posted tons of inflamatory posts within a few weeks and caused havoc and very little was done with them.

Not to sure about that brother I followed the election pretty close and there was hardly a single word spoken by either side on gun control, at least on the mass media I consume.

I don't think its going to be a front page issue, given the Trump tariff problems we are facing.

I would really love to see everybody pulling together for Canada, if I was the PM I would be dragging PP and the other party leaders down to Washington with me.

On the NDP vote it was pretty crazy that in Ontario the NDP vote went to the Conservatives, PP did a good job of getting the support of the unionised auto workers on his side and swung a few seats his way that would have went Liberal.
