Hi guys,
I've got a line on a new husky ice auger, 10" for $650. This is the cheapest i've found, but I thought I'd just ask the forum what they think of this deal? I know its more spendy than the eskimos, jiffys and strikemasters of the world, but I'm a huge fan of their saws, and am willing to pay for the quality and lightweight.
Any thoughts appreciated.

If you plan on boring alot of holes it would be $ well spent. If only a few holes hear and there save the $. I'd love to have one.
That 10 inch sure is overkill. Nice to have a 10 hole I suppose but you've still gotta get that clumsy outfit to the lake.
Great chain saws and you could not go wrong with this unit....a few $ more over the 30+ years it will give you...go for it and enjoy the best!
Nothing wrong with 10" if you don't have to carry it on your back. Better go bigger than cry because you lost a fish at the hole.
That's where an Otter trailer comes in real handy and they're easy to tow behind your sled. I love my 10" Jiffy.Quote:

My dad has a jiffy that is close to 25 years old now. Runs like a charm, drills 8" holes just like any other 8" auger. Whats the extra money being spent for? Is it going to last 65 years? Will an 8" auger magically drill 10" holes? Will your 10" husky drill 12" holes? Whats the point? lol
You can pick up a jiffy for half the price. maybe less.
But if its what you want, then giver!

I was looking at one of them. Couldnt justify the price but they sure look good and seems to be really light unit as well. Never seen one operate but usually Husky makes a good product.

At Lebaron's they are well over $800. Thats a pretty good price, I have never seen them that low. I have been looking for them and finally picked one up 6 yrs ago, at Canadian tire, and I think the guy must have f****d up on the price. He just put it out for $300, and I told him to put it right in the cart. Was the best money i ever spent, it runs like a charm and cuts like butter. By far one of the best ones out there, fantastic on fuel, no smoke and best of all very light. Also have not done anything so far to summerize it and still starts first pull. Go for it, Jiffy's way too heavy 32lbs without the auger, mine is the 8" and 14 lbs without the auger. All my buddies have Jiffy's and are always doing something to fix them, and every weekend when we go out, guess where their Jiffys are. Not saying they aren't good, own a husky and see for yourself.
