My cousin wanted to go for a hunt on Friday so that he could put his young dog Lola on some woodcock. She is only 6 months old and is shaping out to be an excellent bird dog. She pointed and retrieved about 3/4 of the ones we shot.

I'm heading south into Prince Edward County right now to see if I can flush a few. I would imagine they're just about gone around here.

Looks like you guys and the dog had a lot of fun, hoping to get out sometime this week before they are gone.
They seem to be clearing out fast. Saturday the dog put up 21. Returned to the same coverts today and found just two. Tried another spot and turned up 7 more but I had to work for those ... I actually had to crawl on my hands and knees to get in where they were. (The dog found this most entertaining....)
I only put up 1 today. Think my goal of getting a woodcock this season went south on me
Got one Friday and missed two on Saturday, not great but atleast the dog got some work.
I went out for a couple hours today in a usually pretty good bush and didn't move a single one.
While grouse south of North Bay on the weekend we flushed a 3 woodcock a total of 6 times.
Flushed 4 woodcock in the Kawartha's yesterday. I also flushed 9 grouse. It was a perfect day to be out.
Was out today and flushed 3, got two, north of Barrie. There are definitely still a few around but will be gone any day now.

Woodcook are definitely still around. Yesterday 40+ woodcock flushes and 30+ grouse flushes. Didn't kill a lot of them and did shoot a few trees.

Thats impressive grouse guy. I flushed 9 grouse and 2 wc today, got shooting at about half of them and brought home 1 bird. I blame fumbling the safety on my new gun. lol It was a wet one but at least it was warm.

Well, there are still some woodcock around down here in the deep south. The dog and I hit it hard today despite the wind warnings and got a limit and a bonus pheasant. 37 woodcock flushes on the day -- but we worked hard for that number.
I'm hitting 1 bird in 4 with that CZ ... I am thinking that this winter I will be doing a little project to bend the stock.

They're still here. Today's short afternoon hunt brought 9 flushes, 6 spent shells and 2 woodcock.
I got 5 out of 8 north of Wingham yesterday.
Hardest frost yet this morning...
Yep, the bird bath was frozen this morning. Took just the pup out to day for some exercise, and we accidently lifted a woodcock from near the pond - just about flew into my face! It then took off across the adjacent golf course. I've only come upon them in heavy cover, so was amazed at how fast they go in the open-like a rocket
Was hunting just east of london area this past weekend. was able to harvest a few birds. Hoping there will be more next weekend!
