Bands? What are they? LOL
I haven't got a band in 2 seasons. Only have 6 geese in over 20yrs, and 3 ducks. I seem to have to kill a lot of birds to get a band!!

I was golfing a week ago and literaly had to push the geese out of my way. In one flock of about 30 birds there were atleast 10 bands. It was very tempting to pull out the 7 iron but my wife was not going to let that happen :(
We have only taken one so far year. And it was by my buddy up form Nova Scotia. It was banded way up in the Arctic in Quebec well up one Hudson s Bay. Last years bird, 2012, too young to fly.
4 goose bands this year so far. 3 during the early goose. All james bay birds. No web tags though.
4 years and nothing. Still waiting on my first.
My buddy got 2 neck bands about three years ago, only ones I've seen in 14 years of water fowling
no bands in 15+ years. I don't think they are real, just like unicorns.
But there is a goose with a neck band that lives outside the loblaws on hwy 2 and whites rd, well at least for the past 3 years
We have gotten 11 bands so far , furthest band was Nunavut James bay bird .
No duck bands in 20 years of hunting ducks. Then I got 2 ducks bands in the last 3 years. Guess hunting mallards helps.
I took a banded mallard a few mornings ago. He was this years bird - apparently banded only 5 km from the area we hunted. Not many ducks get banded around here, so it was a cool surprise ! :)
2 thus far. 1 banded in Tillisonburg. other banded in mooseonee.
Assuming your location is correct (Ottawa) I would have to disagree with you. Lots of duck banding get's done in and around Ottawa by CWS. MNR Airboats do a pretty good job at hitting the area around Ottawa too, they probably have 4-5 regular locations within 1.5hrs of Ottawa.
thanks for the info...I am aware there is local banding...relatively not on a large scale as compared to some southern Ont locations I meant. I have only shot 3 banded puddlers in my 20 years hunting around here.
Got a few mallards today and again, no bands. None this year.
I'm at 4 honker bands so far for this year, would be nice to get a duck band before the year is out!!
Got my first band on opening day off a drake woodie, banded this year 15 minutes from the marsh I hunt. Taken about 3 dozen ducks since and haven't seen another!
not many this year, have not been hunting geese as much as past years. I generally bat about 1 in 200 on honkers.
Not a band to be had this season for me, on ducks or geese.
One band from a goose banded in Puvirnituq in northern Quebec and one band from a duck banded locally so far this season.
So there Red.....Mr. Knowitall..........HAQuote:

I got my first this year! After 4 years, came out of central michigan! I expected a local bird, my buddy got one same field 2 years ago that was banded 5 miles from there!
My partner picked up a $100 reward band
Sweet!! Where was it taken?
We recently shot 2 James Bay geese. Up to 232 honkers this year and 5 bands. Did shot a banded woodduck drake from south Carolina not a typical band had a guys name and phone number on it. Guess he rooms a oyster farm and bands some birds on the farm
3 goose bands and a duck band all out of the sarnia area this year
1 banded mallard,
My first =)
congrats on your first
I didn't even get to see a band this season. :(
Two geese late season one banded in Moosenee and one northern PQ
Last time I had a banded drake wood duck was in 1974, in Nova Scotia. Since then I haven't been able to get one.
got my first on a drake mallard this season
ended up with 4 this season. 1 Hybrid Black and 3 mallards, not bad to say the least.
I got one band this year. A 7 year old female that was born and tagged in my town. It was harvested about 20km from where I live. imagine all of the young she had over 7 years.
No duck bands this year but I got a goose from Elmira, New york. Also me and two buddies dropped 3 geese over our water spread and all were banded with sequential numbers from two months prior and about 10 minutes away haha.
Nice pics guys congrats, and welcome
Congrats on the bands. Got to love a volley produces multiple bands. Our group once got 6 in one go all James bay geese oddly enough banded in two separate years
Jr got a banded goose on opening weekend - didnt know it was banded until he got it home. he grabbed it from teh dog on teh way by and didnt check - I always check. He must be living rt - I hunted for 10+ yrs before I got a band

Very nice, congrats to your young lad
Not from this yr but 11 yrs ago on opening day of duck season – along w/ a limit of ducks we got 6 geese as I recall. Highlight of the day – other than hunt w/ Jr when he was 6 was tripling on geese. Now the story really gets interesting – the geese I tripled on were all banded – now it gets weird – the bands were consecutively numbered xx-xxxx15,16 and 17. I don’t think I shot them in order ;) I talked w a DU bio and a USFWS bio and they had never heard of one person shooting 3 consecutively banded birds in one volley let alone one hunt. They had heard of a consecutively banded pair shot in a hunt.
They were banded about 100 mi away as juveniles earlier that summer – sorry for the poor pic quality but a good story. BTW that might have been one of few times that gun worked thru an entire hunt …. I was using duck commander calls long before they were "cool"

Local pond birds seemed to be loaded with bands. Had an awesome season but no duck bands to speak of.
We picked up 6 in total this year from 41 geese.

Got My first Band from a Mallard hen this year, we got the green head that was with her, and a wood duck that same night not bad
I think we had 6 goose bands and one duck band this year and shot close to 200 birds
