PSE line of bows
Anyone using a PSE Compound? I've been out of the bow hunting game for a number of years and I'm looking to get back at it. My older bow is a little dated (Browning Bridger Plus) and I have an opportunity to pick up a PSE BruteX for a reasonable price. I don't know much about PSE bows although most of the online reviews I've read seem positive for the most part. Just looking to get some performance opinions from folks who may be using a BruteX or any current PSE model in Central Ontario, November/December climates.

My Nephew has one and he is happy enough with it. It's a good bow that you can purchase with the package that will give you everything you need to get going. If it feels right, I'd say go for it. Pretty much all bows on the market are very capable of doing the job, it all comes down to finding the one that feels the best for you. Take a few shots with it and you'll know pretty quickly whether it's the bow for you or not - especially after trying many different makes/models.

Shooting a PSE Stinger 3G (2013 Model)
Only had it a year now so it hasn't been shot as much as others, I have shot it this winter, and everything was fine in the cold. I did get the RTS package (Ready To Shoot) and quickly stripped off everything and upgraded the components, including strings and cables. Love how it shoots now.

I have the stinger as well. It's my first bow so I have notyhing to compare it too. Jump on the Brute it's the one I initially wanted.

I shoot a PSE Brute X at 60# draw. I use easton powerflights in a 340 spine. I still just use the sight, stabilizer and quiver that came with it in the package...only ever added a pin to the 3 pin sight.
Never had any issues with the bow and it shoots like a dream, I have heard a guy complain that his dad uses a Brute X and it squeaks when he goes to draw...mind you this guy shoots his bow maybe twice a year.
Only things i've ever not liked about it are the grip is really cold to the touch in cold weather and also in cold weather(-15<) when you go to draw it seems a little stiff but again this could be a common occurance in most bows.
I shoot 4 inch groups at 50 yards and a little bigger than 3 inch at 40. I shoot better with my compound than my dad does with his crossbow. If you get a chance to try the bow out before you buy it I would do that. I tried bowtechs, bear archery, and other cheaper pse's as thats what my price range was and I chose the Brute x...shooting it almost seems effortless. Hope this was some help. Do you mind me asking what you're paying for it?

I've been shooting a PSE stinger for 4 years. I changed the site to a truglo xs camo 4 pin site. 28 in draw at 65 ibs , this is my first bow and for me it shoots great.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Sounds like many of you have changed/upgraded some of the standard accessories that came with the rigs you have. Guess I may have to do some research on the items included on this bow I may purchase. Scottypayne88, a friend of mine who lives in Tennessee offered it to me. He recently had shoulder surgery... need I say more. Anyhow he said he'd sell it to me for $350USD. I have a yearly visit planned with him in two weeks so I'll take a closer look at it while I'm down there. Here are a few things he mentioned were on the bow.
Octane Hostage Arrow Rest
Apex 4-pin Fiber sight
NAP Shockblocker Stabilizer
Trufire Patriot Release
Octane Q5 Quiver
Hard Bow Case
4 Carbon arrows and a few broadheads
Like I said, I've been out of the bowhunting game for a number of years so I can't say I know any of these brand names.
From your comments so far it sounds like the PSE line is more than adequate for my requirement in the bush.

I have brute x and it to me just feels sturdy as hell but with no training and little practice I'm almost s.hooting a beer cap at 20 yards . Its slightly heavy compared to some but I love it and can't help but feel like I could fall off a cliff with it an get up dust off and I would still shoot fantastic

I shoot an omen PSE should be set for the maximum poundage to make sure it shoots its best. This info I received from the PSE team of engineers. The only issue I have is the low brace height, which makes the bow very unforgiving.

I have previously shot Quest and Bowtech, but bought a DNA last spring. I used to hate how the bows looked, but took a chance with it. All I can say is wow. Super smooth, and very fast. Seems like there are also lots of shops around to work on PSE as well. They are great products.

I am new to the game so my experience is limited to next to nothing but for what it's worth I am using a PSE Stinger 3G. So far I have nothing bad to say about it when it. I did try others before I bought the PSE and I am sure this is the inexperience talking but I really did not feel the difference other than overall weight.

I'll be checking out the Brute X this coming weekend, hoping it's in good condition. I've got a serious case of bowhunting-fever and I look forward to getting this bow and prepping for the 2014 archery season. Thank you all for the feedback, much appreciated.
