I get my best groups from 3" Remington Accutips. I tried the 2 3/4" but got a large 5" vertical spread at 100 yards with them. Not so with the 3 inch shells.
I find the 3 inch a bit more accurate too but pretty much impossible to find (have been looking a year now and I'm down to last 4) I was actually thinking of re-sighting with 2 3/4 due to lack of availability.
Personally i get better groups with 2 3/4 accutips then the 3" out of my bps
They sold out early last year and remington hasn't shipped any since and no one seems to know why. Checked Fishing World, Sail, Lebarons, and Bass Pro off and on up to shotgun season with no luck.
Someone from sail indicated remington may be longer selling the 3 inch just 2 and 3/4.
3“ was better for me in my 220 but as others have said they are next to impossible to find....I am down to 14 accutips in 3“ and getting worried. Friends in the USA are saying that the Rem AT's are as hard to find as well...only 2.75 seem available.
After am exhausting search for 3" 20 ga accutips, I think I now own the last 20 boxes that were in Ontario. Savage actually recommends that shell for the gun and yes, they are very difficult to find. I contacted over 20 ammo dealers to find.
The 3" accutips are best for my 220f and I have tried a lot of different slugs. I found the 2 3/4 had a significantly larger group size.
The last time I went looking for 20 gauge 3" Remington Accutip I left my name and phone # with the front counter at Le Baron. A few weeks later they actually called to say that the skid of ammo was in and they had set 6 boxes aside for me as I had requested.
I have given up looking for remington accutips. I have some federal trophy slugs and one box of hornady superperformance. Then on to partitions. Have a h&r 20 ga.
Accutips 2 3/4in ought to be available and those perform generally very well in H&R USH. Win Partitions also shot well in my slug gun although I did not pursue further with that particular brand.
It appears the 3" accutips are returning to the shelves soon.
My 220 loves the three, but the 2.75 is no slouch either.
Le Baron (Markham) had remnants of 20ga 3in that I picked up this morning for a friend. Both locations have 2 3/4in available. Most dealers should be replenishing inventory Spring onwards.
