Same stuff you'd use on Grouse and Pheasant, #6 works just fine. No need to get fancy the cheap Winchester Super X will do.
Wasn't looking for fancy.. Just want something left after I shoot em
Ok thank man
2 3/4" #6. Whichever brand shoots best out of your gun.
you going out today buddy?
No. Not today
Im with TR and thunderbelly. Cheap low brass 2 3/4 #6 lead. and you will be good to go. And like tr said aim for the head or youare going to be picking pellets out of the meat. Good luck with the bunnies.
#6 always good what choke are you planing on using (Topher)
I think the shotgun I have access to is an Improved or full. Not sure which one..
Fixed choke
improved would be your better choice. Doesn't mean you can't use full but if the rabbits are flushing from your feet and its close to you, you might have a hard time hitting them and if you do the meat would be damaged
Another vote for cheap #6s. Can't beat them.
I use #4. Mind you that is with a short barreled 20 gauge cylinder bore (no choke). I think 4 5 or 6 is fine.
I use a #7.5 hit them at 15yards with a mod choke and they go down and the pellets that do hit good meat dont do any real damage.
For cottontails I go #6 or #7.5s modified choke if you are hunting tighter quarters. For jacks I go #4 or #2 with a full choke for more punch down range.
I use number 4's just to keep pellet numbers down. I have since switched to single shot .410 #6's to make more of a challenge and definitely keeps pellet numbers down
20ga&410 it's fun
Went out Tuesday after work for an hour or so with a 22 I borrowed from a friend.. Lots of tracks.. Didn't see a bunny though.. Well.. Not until we standing in the driveway next the van with the guns unloaded and in the back of the car.. Suddenly 3 rabbits ran out from the back of the barn.. One Eben decided to stop.. Kinda taunting me.. Took off before I could do anything though.
Did ya flip him the bird at least?
Love Low brass Kent #5 or 6
For jacks #2 or #4 ( even 3" is OK) especially on windy days.
Whistle at them they stop
When my buddies and I all owned beagles and hunted snowshoe hares hard all season my favorite load was 11/8oz of #5 shot. Usually went clean through and you had less pellet holes.
Must suck for ppl like me who can't whistle loud.
Carry one in your mouth.
We used to just shoot them. When hunting with beagles they usually were in high gear until they caught a load of shot.
No.. No.. (Not knowing you) but women are all the same..we should go hit the bush sometime lol.. As your my nighbour.
I agree.
I just want go test out the new pump lol.. Need.to fin wabbits to shoot
