Nice video. I still hate the long tail on a vizsla.
Docking is frowned upon more and more . Pros and cons. A long tail is easier to see on point in the bush - especially a beautiful white setter tail :) - but is also more easily bloodied up.
Sharon,
I know in Europe you can't run your dog in a show if the tail is docked. Hunters still dock tails.I'm sure you know most vizsla hold it's tail level when on point.:) My wirehaired v hold it's tail level when pointing bird but when he points rabbits the tail just hanging.

I have no idea - does a long-tailed vizsla hold his tail level?
(It's a slow night; no hockey yet.) :-)
Come on Sharon you know better than me.:))
Also I think it's just what you get use to it. like a doberman with long tail and full ear. It's just plain ugly.
I agree with Jnyiri - long eared Dobes are goofy looking. For instance - floppy eared German Shepherds don't have their classic look of intelligence. The impressive look is missing - IMO.
But Sharon - those Vizsala pictures are fantastic. A look of class and poise. thanks.
It should, gay tail is a fault in the breed.
That being said it depends on the dog, some lines have the hunt bred out of them and they tend to lack intensity
Thanks.
Ok, since English is my second language I have to look up "gay tail". I wasn't sure cdnvizsla with me or against me.:))))
Old- fashioned use of the word, but still acceptable when talking about dogs' tails.
