For that direct area, you'll be looking at the river mouth in Meaford which is only open from hwy 26 down. Not ideal fly fishing water at all.
Owen Sound you'd have quite a bit more water to fish, but again, not the best for fly fishing.
If you can make the trek, Southampton would be your best bet. Lots of open water and plenty of opportunity for either swinging or nymphing.
Thornbury has a small section of river open that time of year, but much like meaford and owen sound, not decent fly water.
Thanks for the heads up!
would hanover or walkerton be an option that time of year, I fly fish Southampton on and off and haven't had much luck....mind you im fairly new so that could be it too haha
Better check what is open for fishing that time of year. Walkerton is closed. Saugeen would be best bet at southampton.
isn't he going to be deployed in meaford in april?
haven't been fishing since mid December but im fairly certain that from the abutments to the lake is considered the lake not a trib I could be wrong though
yes, from the abutments down is definitely open year round. i was talking about hanover/walkerton areas.
I was wondering haha
ive got some time to look about..thanks a bunch..i haven't wet a fly line down there is 30plus yrs...cheers
Your best bet is meaford at the mouth, you will need to use streamers and get them out far, best to use bait.
