Wow, that's got to suck.
What kind of a low life would steal someone's shelter?....
With all the wind we've had, I'd be checking the shoreline around Beaverton! Really!
I've had to search my hut off a shore before... Went about 2 k... On it's side!..... On Scugog?... That might have been mine!!!...
More then likely you will find it. My friend had his hut disappear one day and he thought someone stole it also and someone found it at the other end of the lake.
I like to freeze rope in the ice tied to the hut... No more problems!!!
I saw the picture on the message board Saturday, was out on Simcoe yesterday and I didn't see it. Sorry
A few huts have been found burned down on Simcoe this year. It wasn't the wind....
you have to wonder if someone didn't just move it for their use for the day and just left wherever they dragged it to.......
We used to invest in 5-6ft of chain with a steel crossbar on one end. The other fastened to the inside of the hut.
When we were finished for the day we would tie the bag of canned goods and minnow pail to the chain and drop it thru the hole. If it froze in we would use the spud to free it the next time we were out.
The hut had an anchor and no one seemed to bother stealing the food or minnows as they were out of sight.
Is it legal to lock your fish hut, not that it would do much good. A guy I was talking to last week said no that the mnr want them left unlocked so they can check for set lines.
They might want them left open!... But .. It is not illegal to lock YOUR HUT . ... If they think you might have a set line they will drill a hole beside your hut and put a "sweeper" type thing in and "sweep" under the ice of your hut... I leave my hut open so people can see there is nothing left in it... And with no lock ... Nobody even looks!
Ha I don,t have a permanent hut anymore, but when I had one over on Simcoe it was a bit of nightmare . If you locked it the five finger discount boys would bust off the hasp and steel all your stuff. Other option was to haul all your gear back and forth and only hook the door but then they would just look inside and leave the door open to flap around in the wind ..... Seen a sign in a store awhile ago it read. "This premises guarded by shotgun three nights a week - You guess what three", needed one of those for the hut.
No the hut didnt blow away.4 guys drove out chopped it loose hooked on to it and towed it into jacksons point. If someone finds the hut i have to tell YRP.Im not to go near it as they dont want me to castrate any of them. spoil sports.
That's a shame , I can't beleive these tools call themselves fisherman , they steal someone else's hut that they worked hard on to build ,
If I were u I would drive around until I found it , and wait for the little s to come back , surprise how you doing ,
that would make them a bit.
Tha I would take my hut back and leave them with a fishing story they would never forget ,
6" off the ground?... Where did you find that number?...never heard anything like that ever... Huts on simcoe are froze right to it... And if they could fine you for that I guarantee they would out there!!!
So you know it is not on Simcoe anymore Trapper? I got the pic on my phone and will keep an eye out.
RR
thanks RR. long time no hear.Im fishing barrie derby again.I think its still around town been to nasty on the lake.YRP made it very plain if found im not to get involved until there done.
Is there a pic of it ,you could up for us?
Besides I would think now a days they can just drop a camera down beside the hut to see and tape any evidence. I guess a fresh coat of paint on the hut and a new number if that's what they are doing, isn't going to help identify a specific hut. Unless it is a unique shape or has something that would stand out in a crowd.
Attachment 24281Here is pic of the stolen hut I found on another site . I don't think he wears pink though . LOL
TD
Was out Sunday and yesterday from IBP to Jackson Point didn't see it out that way , easy hut to recognise if I do, I'll post back !

i live IN VIRGINIA,i catch them, ill run them over....and keep on goin!!!......
spend the night at bonnie boats in your car
That's so pathetic, what the heck is the world coming to when you cant fish in peace and not worry about YOUR HUT being stolen? Honestly, for what? Maybe a burner, some old gear, pots and pans? What the heck do you want in a hut?
Honestly these losers put as much effort to do things legally as they do illegally (like stealing a hut) they would have built a beautiful hut by now.
Sorry I get steamed when it comes to stealing, was at the public launch on the bottom of Cooks in Keswick, I literally turned my eye for a second and some jerk took off with a plano tray full to the top with my rapala jerk baits. The only jerk bait is that jerk ___, go get a job.
I don't think you get 15 to 20 pen time in Canada for murdering someone , let alone steal from them,. they'll be lucky if they even see a jail cell...... and that is probably what pisses people off the most about theives, basically slaps on the wrist or maybe a few months in jail and right back on the streets stealing again.....
It's actually worse than that. If you protect your property from the "poor criminal"in this country, if you even muss a hair on his pretty little head, then the cops treat you worse than the thief. Still though, if or when you find these guys, a little vigilante justice would be the only thing that will really stop them from doing it again. Too bad, but that`s what it`s come to.
About 12 years ago, someone broke into my car on my driveway and stole a tool box, a tackle box, and two new fishing rods from inside the trunk. To this day, I look for that tackle box whenever I am fishing somewhere on the shore in popular spots.
It sucks to be a victim of theft.
I protect my things the best I can and I am always very defensive about it.
The thieves are quite well-prepared in most cases. They have bolt cutters, master keys, extra chains, etc. They will steal anything they can and the easier you make it the happier they get.
As for punishment, it just doesn't exist. I would gladly take matters into my own hands if I ever catch one of them red-handed. Once I'm done with them, they will never ever be able to steal anything else. Oh, I will not get caught either, so the justice system will have no chance to punish me for doing what they are not doing. ;)
