Can anyone recommend a readily available mastic (from Lowes, Home Depot, CT etc) that they’ve used for burlapping their foam decoys? It’s been several years since I’ve burlapped my old Herters and forgot what kind I used, and perhaps one brand might work better than the other.

Tile mastic from Home Depot is what I was using. Not sure if I still have a container or not, I will check.
just use a good ceramic tile mastic and a burlap with bigger holes.I have also used a product called foam coat.u mix the powder up with water n either brush or rub on with ur hands,Its kinda gritty feeling but when it dries its tougher then burlap.cant hardley sand it.No need to use burlap just put it over decoy.They use it on xmas floats,Its water proof.I bought it at sculpture supply Canada in Toronto

Sounds interesting, kind of like a Restle coating. How much does that stuff cost and how many decoys could you cover with it? Any pictures of a finished product?

I've been using the Acrylpro. I believe that either Rona or Lowes carries it.
Year 1 it worked well. Decoys hard as rock.
This year, decoys never cured right. Still soft and some of the tails have worn through. I think I went too light on the mastic in an attempt to get them to dry more quickly and rush them to the water. Might just trestle coat over all of them, but hate to redo the paint.
Also, ask around. I've met a couple contractors who lay tile and they said that they usually only use the first bit of each bucket. Once it starts to get crusty, they toss it. At $30+ per bucket, free mastic is a great deal.

Rona brand is about ten bucks cheaper and its made in the same factory as the more expensive kind.This is what I used.

I've used acrylpro for pretty much all of mine, they have been hard as a rock for years, and only required occasional paint touch ups, and the occasional shot hole patching.
I think I am going to have to do something to my herters this year, they have taken a beating over the years and it's not like you can replace them anymore.
I might try the stuff biglakedecoys uses and some with burlap to see what holds up the best.
Any idea how long they will last til they need a recoat or is this perminent
hawgripper stop by some day on the way through and I will give you some foam coat to try before u order some
