Hey Guys,
I'm heading up to Huntsville next week for a couple of days. Does anybody know if its worth drilling holes in Peninsula or Fairy Lakes? I'll be on foot from Deerhurst.
Thanks,
Ryan

I've never fished either but the Ministry stocks both with Lakers, judging by the numbers Peninsula should be decent. But Fairy apparently has Walleye so it's a tough call if you don't have time to try both. I'm going up later this month so let me know how you make out.
fairy used to be good for crappie and usually still is early season, not sure if its worth trying now.
Thanks guys,
I'm up for a conference for a couple of days, I'm gonna try to get out in the mornings. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ive also never heard of crappie in Fairy. News like that wouldnt be secretive either.
Go to Penn for lakers
Apparently the MNR does not know either:

Is there more than one Fairy Lake???? Cuz that would be news to me as well..........................Boog (2006 Crappie King) LOL
I wonder how the "Crappie" rock bass taste?
X2 for Lakers on Penn. Lots of pike in there too.
there's crappie in fairy lake... in Acton...
ive had good luck at walk to spots on penn for pike...even caught a decent laker while pike fishing....as for crappie on fairy...I'm not surprised in the least
FYI fairy in Huntsville does have the odd crappie. In Vernon they are catching them fairly often. I would say fishing for them would not be very productive in either lake as they are fairly new to the system and not well established.
p.s the mnr does know....
were talking about the one off #60 right? It doesn't have a huge population of crappie as far as I'm concerned, (don't fish it too often) but early season it was almost non-stop but the word spread and a bunch of guys came and it turned in to sh-t, we would get them wherever but i didn't know the launch spot so i asked a local to use his backyard and fished not too far from it, nice people living there! I fished it maybe 5 times all in the past 2 years and guys have gotten crappies near me as well, next time I'm there ill take a pic of one.
I took a guy fishing who I had just met. He had not boat but was all excited because he had just been out on another guy's boat and they caught a "mess of crappies" in a lake where "nobody even knows there are crappie in there".....the rock bass were biting well and we did get a mess of them....
Lots of lakes are getting crappies that didn't have them before... I think people stock them themselves... Not sure what the MNR says about Kash, but I've caught them there for 5 years now and I'm guessing they don't show up on the speacies list yet...
I made it to Peninsula Lake & fished Thursday & Friday mornings before the conference. I couldn't see any huts to give me any other ideas, so I fished 40-70 fow off of Deerhurst....
Well, no luck (surprise!), but I certainly had fun trying!
Thanks for all the tips & good discussion.
