Amazon.ca
x2 I live close to the border, so we go to amazon.com ship it to the border store then pick it up
I have good luck at tsc. They have a 6 mp cam on sale in this weeks flyer. It's wildview for 69$. I got 2 wild game cams for 50$ there and they have been great.
I'm always a bit scared buying electronic over the internet, but that just me. I bought this week a spypoint hd-7 works really well...
Thanks guys. I placed an order with Amazon and the camera should be here Monday.
Ok...what should one look for? Or avoid? In these fandangled contraptions?
There is a lot of information available on line. I did some google searches and some searches on the forum. Here are a few links:

I bought an electronic. Device online a fee years ago for Christmas.. Remained in the pa mage for 2,weeks.. Until Christmas.. When we opened it the item did not work. Went to return it and they said I had it for more than 30 days. They started counting the days from the day I purchased it.
If you can find what you are looking on ebay and there is no reserve you can do quite well. Got a $300 camera for $155. Camera (Plotwatcher Pro) was brand new and still sealed in the childproof packaging.
If you buy a new trail camera off of Ebay for Spypoint at least, your warranty is null and void. The vendor you are buying from must be an authorized dealer.
x2 for EBay...I have bought all my from there, but like Tracer pointed out, I buy them from the 'stores' and where the guy is providing his own warranty just to prevent problems with a DOA.
I have returned a camera to Moultrie and they they never asked any questions about when or where I bought it, just sent me a new one.
With Spypoint, for any warranty claim, you need to show proof of purchase.
This statement is from SPYPOINT'S web site :
" If you find a "deal" online (e.g. eBay, Amazon) that looks too good to be true, it probably is. We do not offer warranty service for cameras purchased through unauthorized sources on eBay, Amazon or other online auction services, as we do not know the condition of the items being offered for sale."
I waited for months then bought 4 from Cabelas on line when on sale. Do the same for memory cards at Best Buy. Buy 2 of the biggest memory cards possible for each camera - mine are 32 gig - so you never leave a camera empty and don't need to view on camera but can bring the card home. Buy more cameras then you need and get buddies to buy the same model at the same time so you all get to know the finer features. Get high megapixel, ability to use a cable lock through the body, burst mode so it takes several shots for each trigger. Buy the biggest package of battereies avail. as you'll go through tons. Many great cameras out there now. Just don't pay full price at Cdn Tire.
Sale on now for XCEL action cameras by SPYPOINT:

Sorry splaker been a long time, but I'll answer your question now. I have had 2 of those cams for 2 years now with no issues like that. My buddy also has 2 without that issue. You must have a lemon. They are going strong still and I've run them in some -20c also.
I have found this website to be best for reviews. They have pictures from the trail cam they are reviewing.
