Or do I have a predator problem? Found three eggs on the field edge tonight when I was taking the blind down. Two had small, loonie sized holes, the other was smashed open.

Going out for a Saturday, will look to see if any hen's have little one's tagging along.
I started a Hen with some poults yesterday morning. I couldn't see them due to the height of the alfalfa but I could see the grasses move as they were running around.
I have a farmer customer that killed a hen on her nest while cutting hay. He checked out the eggs (8) and it didn't even look like they were fertilized.
Saw a hen walking with about a dozen chick's last Friday June 6th. That means she was nesting before the seasoned opened.
This happens a lot so when ever I find a nest among the hay I put a stake for farmer to go around it.Quote:

I've observed just one hen in a grass border so she's just starting to sit.
The one place around the house that usually have a nest is vacant this year.
I hear quite a bit about the same thing :( . Last year, a hen that I call "my girlfriend" nests in a cow pasture every Spring. I was worried last year that the egg would get tramped over by cattle, instead according to the trail cam, she hatched a few nice bird's.Quote:

I saw a hen with 6 little ones yesterday just off #47 south of Uxbridge.
Seen a hen with a bunch of little ones on the 2nd last day of turkey season...
