Lookin' pretty sweet. Where are these manufactured in Canada?
I thinl they are made in kitchener.
I've always been a Colt fan but I just don't see a use for these in my area.....
after years of shooting them while in uniform, the novelty wore off....since I retired I'm more interested in Black Powder shooting...different targets now :)
I don't know look's cool, but I still like wood.
It really frustrates me that these are restricted. You can take a semi auto non-restricted 223 and put black stocks on it and it remains non-restricted but now you make something that is a military variant in semi-auto only and it must be restricted.
I don't think I would ever buy one due to the limited use, but I would build a non-restricted 223 to look like one.
Just think of how much "seat time" the various beaurocraps, lawyers and technical experts put into these guns before they were declared restricted. They have to have a reason to claim their pay checks each week. Then think of the wrangling that went on to convince Colt to put their assembly line here in Ontario....jobs created by your liberal government. The tax breaks, the skilled workers who now have jobs, right down to the delivery people. A win win situation that is being paid for by your tax dollars every time you buy gas, a bottle of booze, donut or a hunting license....
All brought to you by your local politicians....earning their pay ( which also comes out of your wallet)
This plant that colt now owns used to be Diemaco and has been there since 1976, so no Liberals putting a business in place, it has been there for a long time, making reliable firearms for the Canadian Military.
Just a few years back the upper and lower receivers were machined just a few steps away from my office. When I first started with this company, many people had large (empty) brass cases sitting on their desks as paperweights and the display cabinet in the lobby was filled with forgings in various states. Still enough of the old timers around that our social club runs a day at the range where anyone can sign up to go shooting for the day. Try that at pretty much any other company and see what kind of a response you get.
mayby by the end of summer we will all be able to buy one of these new colts with just are pal ,waiting to hear the what the powers that be are going to do with the swissarms deal ,we may all benefit .Dutch
I wouldn't hold my breath. That stupid idiot out east that shot all those RCMP officers did a fabulous job of setting legal gun ownership back. I'm hoping for the status quo, but have a sneaking suspicion there are more prohibitions coming down the line. Let's hope I'm wrong.
With Kathleen Wynne's new 'made in Toronto' cabinet,I shudder to think what's coming down the pipe, too.
I've shot enough of these in full auto, and other nice hardware, I can't get excited about buying a civvy version in semi auto.
Paying upwards of 2K for a rifle that you can only take from your house to an approved range, and back again seems a bit exorbitant. If I even were to look at a semi centerfire in 5.56 / 223 I'd be looking at NR types like Robinson Arms XCR, or a Tavor, but I can't see much use for paying the extra $$$ for something tacticool, which essentially you're going to use for small game.
It's nice that Colt Canada has been allowed to enter an already heavy field of competition of restricted AR variants. Sadly I don't see them doing much with this. A C7 / C8 is pretty well the same as most out there by places like Daniel Defense, Rock River Arms, etc. As a former serving member, I can tell you, the fact that it's the same as one I put literally 1000s of rounds through years ago, wont amount to a hill of beans. And I strongly suspect that the C7 price point is going to be well higher than a Norinco AR variant at $700Cdn.

Must be sending the anti's into fits. :-)
Price starts at around $2k if you can afford a $2k go ahead pick one up... I'd rather p/u a norinco $500,clone... Use the left over $1500 on ammo ;)
That seed has been there for years, just look at the Orders in Council that the Liberals pushed through to bear fruit... or thorns if you prefer, when they were in unopposed power.

"At its leadership convention in Montreal in December, Liberal party delegates passed a resolution proposing that "semi-automatic weapons be classified as illegal weapons."

"As if they didn’t already learn lessons from the long gun registry fiasco, some political figures have law abiding gun owners in their sights again -- this time with plans to eliminate the personal use of automatic and semi automatic guns.
That plan is spelled out in black and white in the Liberal Party of Canada’s Resolution #42.

The firearms resolution is sponsored by the Young Liberals of Canada and calls for a reduction in the number of guns in this country. It urges a future Liberal government to adopt Australia's firearms policy, which included a large buy-back program and a ban on semi-automatic firearms and some shotguns.
Liberals get in a majority and you can kiss semi-automatic rifles and shotguns and probably many handguns good bye. Look what they did with the .25 / .32 handguns.... one big change pushed through and you have 60 days to turn in anything Semi and if they following the Australian model all are cut up in 65 days.
