Drag your moose!!!

Lots of threads over the years as to what the best quad is, quad capabilities, manufacturer vs manufacturer, big vs small, best tires for quads ect ect ect

Well, moose season isn't that far away. Unfortunately not a whole lot of tags to go around this year but plenty of time to prep.

So this thread is for all the guys who are proud of your machines, show us what they can do, big or small.... post a video of your machine in action this moose season. Give some details and lets see the video roll. I imagine there could be something learned by all, new techniques, maybe put faces with names, perhaps help guys determine what machine might best suit their particular needs.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing some quads in hunting action.

Not yet sinker, vids are at work

we throw our moose on a Stone boat. ratchet strap the moose on tight. Can-am Outlander 800 pulls the moose threw the bush. Kawasaki Brute force 700 with 27" mudzillas hooked to the front of Can-am for a bit of help going up really steep hills or across swamp.

These are usually the two biggest bikes at camp so we use them. Seem to throw the most mud too. But I'm sure a couple 500cc quads could do the same if they had good drivers.


No videos as I'm either running the chainsaw at the front making a path or clearing the way.

Tie the head up on the back rack. Run your winch cable underneath your bike and through a clevis where the trailer ball would go. Run a rope around the moose behind the shoulder. Pull taught with the winch cable and away you go. My little 300 Kawi Bayou has no problems pulling a moose this way.

To be honest I have never though of recording the way out. Perhaps some of the hunt.

We also daisy chain quads, usually 2 but once we did 4. ..

One word ...... Argo. I made a steel rack that slips into the hitch receiver. We put the head on the rack, chain it down and drive off. I've pulled 14 or so, with no problems. The best thing about the Argo, is I can cross rivers, small lakes, and swamps to get at the moose.
Pulling moose out of winter cuts is made easy with the Argo.

Good video....been there and done that. We were pulling a 50 plus incher out like that with a bike. The bike reared up, the driver fell back, almost on top of the horns. I was right beside the bike and was able to grab the front rack and keep it from going completely over. That was the year I bought the Argo.....no more flipping bikes over.

Its a piece of steel we have on the farm for loading stones on when clearing fields. Pull behind the tractor. Just has two lips on the ends to keep it from digging in, About 7ft long.

We have had two calves and a cow on it, One big bull. Just ratchet strap the head back onto its body to keep from grabbing trees and stuff.

Kinda looks like this but all steel . Glides over rocks and roots good.

Thanks, that looks pretty cool and useful. Heard of guys using old car hoods but I could really go for something like that.

That sled is a nice piece of hunting gear!

Not sure if this would be something that some one could incorporate but I built a logging arch to haul logs out when the ground is to muddy for the tractor. It has a winch on it to lift the log up off the ground and you can literally move a 1000lb log by hand Attachment 26291

Been there done that. :o

That is why you run the winch cable underneath the bike and pulled tight. It keeps the front end on the ground.
