Don't know much about goose calls, (so many choices out there) had one given to me years back and lately its been giving me a bit of trouble so would like to buy a new one.
Could use some advice on an easy call to use.... I don't like to practice very much so is there a call out there can be purchased that doesn't take much of a learning curve to use. I need to get one for my son too, something easy to blow, sounds like a goose and won't break the bank. :)

first call i bought was a goozilla from RNT. great call think it was almost 25$ great call to learn on.. has instructions on the back of the packaging.
PRIMOSE has a flute style call with a piece of plastic on end.Anyone,and I mean anyone can make Goosey sounds with it! It runs around $30.

I was out this morning again, managed two birds but my call/calling sounds like a dying dog....it was awful..
If you don't want to practise then a flute is for you, the Goozilla is a great call for the money but it is a short reed and will require more practise. A short reed will give more volume and a greater range of calling but it takes much practise. Flute is an easy call as the tone chamber is the flute body while with a short reed it is your hands. Primos flute is an easy one to use I had my seven year old daughter (at the time:)) using a flute in the field in about five minutes. If you do choose to go with a short reed the Goozilla is a good one for the money, good luck.
I use a canada hammer. Not expensive but if you dont want to practice dont get a short reed call get a flute. But learning to blow a short reed is rewarding in the end.

Zink PC-1. 30$ very easy to blow and sounds good. I find it it is more comfortable in my hand than the Canada hammer II which I bought to learn on, I got way better calling after I practised on the power clucker than I did with the other Canada hammer. My brother has the Goozilla and it is the same shape as the buck gardner call. It's a steep learning curve but once you know the basics on a short reed it gets real easy tho.
Winglock Whisperer....very goosey and easy as heck to use. I found mine for $30. It's a wood call.
It doesn't matter what goose call you buy, some are easier blowing than others BUT ,you still have to practice .
I know but just don't want to practice a lot... I have a short reed call now that I have been using for years but its just not sounding good anymore. Even after all these years with that short reed call I still haven't mastered it yet so am looking for something that can do the job without a lot of effort put in. Fratri just start on a short reed and stick with it. most flutes are not very veristile, Sean Mann's longshoreman is the only real exception that comes to mind. Those big old long buggers need more wind than I care to put through them during a hunt. the technique for the short reed and flute is really quite differant and is a beeotch to switch back and forth even for an experienced caller. These two call will not break the bank and sound pretty good with practice. Zink PC-1 ($38) and the Tim Grounds Poly Super MAG ($68) both are in stock at Sail.
X2 on the TG Super Mag. It is a great call. Its very forgiving and the easiest call I've blown. Very easy to work on the basics with it. It won't leave you frustrated like other calls when they don't do what you expect them to.Quote:
