If you sent a letter into Industry Canada about Garmins and MURS. Industry Canada will be contacting you about releasing your letter under the Privacy Act.
An MP. James Moore from British Columbia has asked Industry Canada for all the information pertaining to this issue, he asked the same in the Commons on July 31,2014. Industry Canada will have to release their "science" and the feed back from you the hunters.
We can win this thing , get some more letters out .
Do you have a specific person or adress we should contact?
The positive thing he is a PC and will not be trying to make a name for himself to get votes. He will be dealing with the issue.

Don't freak....It's not the allowing use of MURS, hams are concerned about. It is the level of enforcement ( or lack of ) that violators would face, fines etc.
Wow big surprise a ham guy getting bent out of shape about the airwaves they think they own.
No MURS is not with in the ham bands.. But the equipment we use can be programmed/modified to operate on the MURS BAND.Quote:

So if some one starts to use ham gear on MURS( This very same thing happened to GRS/CB ) and there is little if any enforcement, what kind of mess is that going to make.
The collars everyone uses for Garmin are set for a certain frequency and power from the factory and have been running in Canada for years. I some how find it hard to believe that the people on this site will be running there dogs with modified high wattage collars on the MURS band.
I was running my Garmin on the weekend at Hullet and I didn't crash any planes or set off any alarms maybe my Garmin radio death machine is defective.

You must not know how a Garmin Astro works if you think it was me getting lost at Hullet.
And you must know that you share your MURS Freqs with two-way radios. We as a community do not want to stop MURS, in fact ham think it would start to fill a large gap in the public safety system. We want to be sure it does not turn to a mess like GRS/CB.Quote:

The guy at Hullet had an Astro but it looked to not be working, the batteries may have died or it was disabled. Don't know , really don't care..
You are aware that you are posting messages about having done illegal stuff in this thread right.
You care about your dog and want to use the best system you can......Good. Just remember there is a lot more to MURS then just your collar.
There are two-way radios, WiFi linking systems, wireless modem systems( not 802.11 ), wireless Alarm systems that can cover not just a home but large pieces of land.
Think of this. The first six channels of the 2.4 GHz WiFi wireless routers are in a ham band, no trouble for us to all share them. But hams could legally use several hundred watts on them. But your .2 or .6 watt unit you have at home is all you are allowed to have. What do you think would happen to your home network if I lived three houses from you and fired up a five to ten watt unit with a high gain antenna. You would lose your routers signal because my signal would be so strong that it would cover your's and over load the front end of your wireless router so even if you are on 6 and I am on 1, I would be jamming you.
If you have some one using converted ham radios on MURS then they can jam the signals from the collars as well

Omg Snowwalker quit being so dramatic. What will the future look like after the Garmin users cause the collapse of civilization as we know it?
People have been using these units in Canada since they started selling them. If there was a real problem or safety issue with the use of these units it would have been obvious by now.
There must be some solution to this. If they don't want to open the MURS frequencies then just have people register their units, buy a license or whatever they feel is necessary. As long as Garmin continues to manufacture these units they will be used in Canada.
It is not the collars that are causing concerns. If all you care about is the collar and don't take the time to try to understand that MURS licensing in Canada means some very big changes to the whole spectrum usage thing. You are welcome to cry about it, just don't post about using them.Quote:
