This was most likely my last outing of 2014. I only caught this small pike and wouldn't have normally posted a picture except that he/she looks to have been bitten by something bigger. What do you think?
I caught it on a tiny Crappie mini-crank - a "bitsy pond minnow".

Is it me or does the head look to big for that body?
It may just be the angle I took the photo. But yes, it was a skinny pike. Maybe because of the bites/sores?Quote:

My guess would be a snapping turtle -I 've seen pike before with similar lesions.
Muskie and I think pike as well get sores that are actually a form a cancer. A read an article on it a number years ago. It's a hard to tell from the picture, but there doesn't appear to be much if any of a bite radius.

Almost looks like a large puncture wound. Maybe someone tried to spear it? Possibly a heron?
Yep, my guess is a sore, I have seen that before.
