Crazy isn't it? I thought last year's season concluded quickly but this year is a kick in the pants!!

It sucks , Global Warming !!!! Yep
Man, complaining is the last thing I'm doing in this weather! Find the open water boys, the birds are there!
All this snow will be gone this weekend anyway, and we'll all be back on the lake.

I hear ya guys. I was surprised to roll out last weekend to a half frozen pond which prevented us from getting where we wanted, and this weekend itll likely be almost froze over.
sure itll melt after the upcoming temps, but us small water guys just lost the bulk of our birds I bet, not to mention Saturday will be a write off for most small waters.
oh well. I guess we gotta get out and find some more birds. it would be nice to get one layout blind field hunt in this year!! but I did just get some new waders and really wanna put them to the test in the water!!
If it isn't the quick freeze messing up duck hunting, then its the high wind speed screwing with rabbit hunting. I guess ill have to spend time with my wife...
Geese were flying two night ago lads going south but we were too busy shovelling from under 90 cm of snow to even care LOL
TD
we got a few small ditches that stay open all year I am going to check them tomorrow and see what we got for green heads ,we see them well deer hunting in the December gun season so if thy are there then thy should be there now .Dutch
Small pond frozen up Monday, we broke it up before light and produced a couple mallards. Went down to Selkirk and could have cleaned up if we were properly prepared. Lots of geese in the fields adjacent to the lake and good mix of birds on the water. Ended up with a couple bufflehead and a gadwall to finish the day
I come up in 2 weeks and somehow I doubt Buzz is going to tell me there's no water left to hunt.
Worst case, we'll just head to Selkirk.
Not complaining, just my options are getting limited with no field equipment and no diver decoys! I still enjoy a puddle duck hunt, even in the snow..... :D

Hello Guys,
Just a "heads up" on Inner Long Point Bay ... all "iced in" along the shorelines.
That includes the entire LPWMU (A Zone and B Zone) as well as Big Creek.
The Port Rowan harbour is "iced over" as well.

Lol well we hunted the shore actually, just saying the geese were stacked up in the fields by the lake and the ducks were on the water. Only a few green heads mixed in so far not many as you guys said
Feel your frustration, drove home November 9th after deer hunt, the further North we got, the more froze over everything was. Came quick and early.
