Average to lower numbers, waiting for snow.....
I have managed to bag a few, but less then past years. Id say there numbers are down this year in the areas I hunt.
Im not sure about south western ontario but I know the hare numbers where I hunt are down for sure from comparing to past years.
I've seen a few can't say if numbers are up or down, probably about the same. Going out this weekend see if I can find some. Probably take my 20 gauge.
My beagles & I are chomping at the bit to get after them . Hope for snow . One last day to fill my tag then that's done . Good luck all .
I'am going up on Friday for the first time this year in the Trenton area anybody know the numbers up there.
Just got dumped on with snow last night here in the midland area. Just about to head out to see if I can find any. First year hunting so I can't really say anything about the numbers. I haven't seen any so far this year. Seen some tracks but they all had coyote tracks right on top of them.
we had a ton around the home farm this spring but the hawks and yotes have cleaned out all the dumb ones .very few seen this fall .Dutch
We have had the dogs out to a few of our honey holes. Only getting 1 or 2. A lot of yotes around.
Rabbit population is down on my place from last year especially comparing from this spring and I don't even shoot them.
It doesn't help that we have a family of foxes that I don't bother for now, and of course the ever present coyotes.
Was just out at Marlborough Forest today seen 2 rabbits in 2 hours and got 1.
got 3 in my backyard almost every night, they love the neighbors garden lol
Cottontails have been good in Belleville and pickton areas.
We hunt London and surrounding areas. With this fresh snow can't wait to get out Saturday. Dogs are all pumped up to like they know what is going on.
took a few friends out today, we got 5 bunnies and missed atleast 5 more
congrats. nice to hear of other people getting out after them. what kind of dogs do you use hunter10?
Attachment 28108 the one with orange collar is a beagle/podengo other is purebreed podengo
Tons around my house in Ottawa...nothing in the woods so far...

I've heard and read a few comments saying that numbers must be down. In comparison with last year, I've definitely had a much harder time seeing them - and very few at that.
It's irritating as hell to see more in the city, often in my garden or hit by a car, then in the bush...
I was thinking that is the time to go out - first sunny morning after a blizzard. I've seen lots - in the city. :) I feed them soon as it hits -5
finally got out this afternoon. thought it would be too cold but the bunniies were out. dogs did their jobs, put up about 12. my 20 gauge needs to go visit the eye doctor. missed 5 got 1 lol. it was good to finally see the dogs after some bunnies. thank god for the snow.
12 bunnies on the run, that's a great day
Are those portuguese podengos in your avatar pic.
I got out today as well, ended up getting 4 out of 6 with my 410. My GSP sure had a good time running the fields and woods after being hung up around the house for a while. My face did feel like it was going to freeze while walking across a field, but had a great time and rabbit stew for dinner tonight.
Huntinaddict - I don't know much about beagles - those two look llike they can run.
yesterday afternoon was nice to get out for once. we thought about going today, but it was just to cold out. it sure is fun just to have the dogs out running rabbits. nice shooting fishhawk, i blame the bright snow for my misses lol. yes ontariobeagler 1 is a purebreed portuguese podengo broughht from from portugal. 1 is half podengo half beagle.
This beagle is non-stop, hunted him for 9 hours straight.
