Yep! Somebody had a giant brain fart. We must remember, though,Postmedia is a huge supporter of the Liberal Party of Canada.
Kinda takes your breath away that something like that, (even if it is an editorial), would see print. It is evidence of what the anti's really think about firearms - it takes it to a level that you knew existed but would rarely see exposed.
Pretty sad indeed. They are not getting any love in the comments below and that is great too see.
Once the comments against this article reaches critical mass, the comments section will be closed and this article will disappear. Sometimes,I think libtard newspapers print an article like this simply to gauge public reaction then send the results to to their political commissars so they can further figure out what different buttons to push. At least,That's what TorStar Media does with all their publications.
...and just when, on a beautiful friday afternoon, i thought nothing would raise my blood pressure.....
I'm waiting to see these people put a " no guns here. " sign in there front window to show there support for same .
"And our government has the gall to call it the Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act."
After barely being able to read through this type of garbage for years, i get to the end of this column and read this.
The name of the act seems quite clever to me.
Over 80 comments and not one in support of their point of view....They're so naive they'll spin that to mean they have written a good op-ed. :)

Same here...
Wow! The anti-gun craziness is strong in this!
It has been proven many, many, times over, that those that agree with any point of view expressed, do not send e-mails to agree. Those that disagree , are the ones who take the time for rebuttal. You are not upset when you agree with something, only when you don't, Phy.101
...............................
No I do not agree with that, 'editorial', just pointing out facts. Not .....we must be right look at all the replies that disagree. Well known facts do not substantiate that opinion. Why get personal?
A must read for every one that owns a gun. What a bunch of brain dead idiotic morons to write and publish such trash. Unfortunately there will be a vast amount of left leaning lunatics who would probably believe and embrace this trash piece of writing. I cant even bring myself to use the word "journalism" as it would be an insult to the few remaining journalists with integrity. And sadly there is getting to be fewer and fewer of them, both in newspapers and magazines. Last count of people commenting on this trash article was 275 and rising. And unless i missed one or two ALL the comments were against the newspaper and the idiots that wrote it.
I'm pretty sure this "paper" is one of the type that come to your house free of charge, but,it's loaded with flyer/advertisers from every grocery chain and home improvement outfit in a given area. Journalistic integrity isn't real high on their agenda.
Hopefully many local businesses will want to distance themselves as far as possible from this trash. Not to wish them any bad luck but maybe they will go bankrupt and the idiots that penned this can go live on the street were nobody has a gun,and everybody is a good person and hold hands and sing and smoke the "HAPPY HAY" that they obviously smoked while writing this.
Just think, the editors of this article are the products of a university education program.
They apparently slept through "Common Sense 101" and copied somebody's paper!
Dick
Given how conservative Alberta is you'd think this was done just to stir up chatter for the paper.
So.......Rural lives and the protection of them are less important than urban lives?
Folks, Freedom isn't defined by "safety". Freedom is the ability to live without gov. interference.
"someone might have weapons that could accidentally claim their children’s lives"
How does it go again? If guns cause crime all of mine are faulty?
Wow. I've been on the road and only just got to read this one. It's jaw-dropping.
The parent company (PostMedia) of the Edmonton Journal just bought Sun Media and has been approved by the Competition Bureau. It'll be very interesting to watch the editorial content of Sun newspapers to take a decidedly leftist bent along the same lines as The National Post and Toronto Star.
The writers should move to Brazil and see what life is like there with a government that has taken away their right to own firearms.
They don't care why you read it, just that you do, more readers = more ad $.
Well the stupidity didn't end with the first article. If the first installment didn't raise your blood pressure then Margo Goodhand's response to the readership will really put you over the top...

I think it's just to bring more readers to their site, publicity....
