Had the chance to get out and take down some crows last week. These little buggers are so destructive and this area I hunted is covered up in them. Hope to get out and do it again soon!

Oh nice, WTG, nice pic too... Lots of fun I bet
A bunch of questions if you don't mind. Were you using a shotgun? Did you use a caller? How long did it take.? After you shot the first one did the others scatter or just keep coming? Cheers man. Would love to read your narrative.
Cunha... outstanding! Like goosesniper says. Would love to read the narrative.
never thought of it, but i bet you're allowed to bait too..
heh...
Nicely done MarcoMarco
I did use my shotgun on this hunt. I set up 3 dozen decoys in the field adjacent to the farm I was hunting and used my e-caller with a fighting crow sound playing. I have never worried about having to shoot the first bird that shows up, or the scout that other people call them. At first light I had a group of about 10-15 come in right over the decoys and I managed to double and the rest scattered. After that it was pretty consistent with singles and pairs coming in for a look until mid morning when I packed it in. I got 22 that morning and my hide was in near some old farm equipment that was lying at the edge of the field as well.
well done indeed.
Nice, good plan..gonna try that soon. Seen last year, one of the members bought some owl and crow decoys at Dollar store for crow hunting. We had some at hunt camp last weekend just proving the crow fight, dying crow and cottontail distress works for calling them in. Set up the FoxPro Fury 20 feet from camp door to prove to other guys its works... great fun. They came from all around the area...
Nice! I know an area of Ontario that looks allot like that...and I took my first crack at hunting crows down there in the late fall. Shooting was fast and furious, all kinds of crows...never seen anything like it. I've educated the crows up near where I live now (near Newmarket) and while I can still seem to generate some interest with decoys and the FoxPro Hellfire...I haven't connected with any in the last 3 attempts.
Good to see some CROW content on here. Hunting them has helped me keep distracted until groundhog season. :)
Do you actually eat them?
Of course we eat them...and feed them to the coyote bait pile.....lol
Is there a season for crow or is it open all year nothing really in the reg book.
Figured it might be open all year.?
4 and 20 Black birds baked into a pie , with crows you don't need as many !:joker:
Thanks for the follow up. Great job.
Great sport and they are considered a varmint/pest. No closed season, no limit.
They quickly come to a crow fight call, but they get smart to it pretty quick as well.
.... new hunter here, so no closed season on them since they are pest.
but what do you do with carcass? i'm not gonna eat a crow....
I can't justify the waste just to pat myself on the back and think "I did this to protect crops, livestock and wildlife" :whacked: . Do whatever you need to do, don't let me own your minds. Any hunter who thinks he is going to make any kind of meaningful dent in the invasive/"undesireable" wildlife population is just a dreamer who uses it as an excuse to kill stuff they have determined to be superfluous to their requirements. Hey, I hunt and fish too, just said I wouldn't 86 something I killed (crow quills make beautiful Avon floats) after the photo op. Remember last year how p.o.'d everyone was when the deer parts were found thrown in a ditch sans meat ?
Wow! Really!! I guess you don't like shooting.
That comment has to be about the most saddest post I can ever remember reading in a hunting forum. I reread it 5 times to make sure. Just my opinion, but you kinda sound like an Anti. I have no prob if you don't agree with crow shooting. nbd. But then you come on with this highly inflammatory posturing, assuming you know how everyone else thinks. Seems like you're patting yourself on the back though...
One thing I can say with certainty. For every crow, blackbird, groundhog, coyote or even wolf that gets taken by a hunter, a farmer will thank you. Farmers own hunting property. Nuff said.

No worries, there. That will never happen.LOL
Definately not an anti. I hunt Moose and Deer in 60, 56 and 57. I spoke up in response to someone saying that the crows could be thrown in the trash, now thats a post the antis could eat up. I am surprised nobody else spoke up! I don't need to have the last word, be right or have the correct view for the masses. No point in continuing for me, this is a great forum and I dont want any hassles. This is the second time members have misunderstood my opinion in a thread. Dont read between the lines of my posts guys, there is nothing there.
Awesome hunt Marco .. I'm going to try a crow hunt this year looks like it will be a blast... P.S this is Chris if ya didn't recognize my profile pic lol. .. See ya in a couple weeks at the Dunnville Dinner.
Everyone has there own opinions! Great job on the crow hunt Marco!! I wanna do that some time... Just remember guys that he didnt post it to create an arguement I'm sure!! (jus my two cents:)
