Comments to the story are just hilarious..
Serves him right. Dummy.
By far the best one: LOL
"I thought tolio had been eradicated, had the shot been a little higher he could have ended up with kneezles or even worse, a case of small cox."
I personally liked the
"One little piggy won't be going to market"
LMAO that's funny stuff.
Ok , now that is funny! Well played! Savage308
good god did he get any birds that day?
Stupid comment - 'Firearm safety needs to be more strongly enforced in Ontario, the amount of careless accidents such as this are remarkable'
Ya.....lets stop 'strongly enforcing' drunk driving laws, incompetent drivers, street gangs, sex trade, domestic violence, drug abuse, general crime prevention, bicycle safety (which kills or injures hundreds every year), j-walkers (250 struck in Toronto annually)..........so that we can focus on some idiot that shoots his toe off.....because hunter's shooting their toe's off is such a huge problem in this country. The guy must be running for some left wing political position.
D.
That he "sort of almost" followed some safety rules (muzzle control) kept him alive. I really hate it when I see guys rest their gun muzzles on top of there boots. More that once I've had to tell a guy "if you're going to do that, move it closer to the tip of your toes so you only blow off half your foot".
The golden rule of safe firearm handling is treat ever gun as if it's loaded. Not a smart thing to point a loaded gun at any part of your body. ;)
The Toe offends him... Ignorance or carelessness is not an excuse.
We attended an attempt suicide one evening by someone who was so stupid that he intended to shoot himself in the head only he shot himself in the foot, first,to see if would hurt. True story.....no really.
So , did it hurt ? what did he say.
He's fined $750 for shooting his own toe off and Stan Jonathan is acquited for killing a hunter.
I have the bad habit of resting my shotgun on the toe of my boot as well when on watch .deer hunting ,,it is a comfy way to hold the shotgun well standing still waiting ,I do no better but .lol it is not really a good idea ,,Dutch
5 year hunting ban....wow...some of the poachers in recent that have been caught on a large scale only got 1-2... This guy just shot himself in the toe...
I'm all for fines and bans, and obviously this is warranted, my comparison in more for the sake of, maybe we pass on these 5 year bans to the other big offenders.
If you read the article, down at the bottom you will note that this case was decided by a Justice of the Peace. Note that a JOP does not have to be a lawyer or have any legal training. This is one of the reasons that you want to be very careful with the MNRF. They are good a twisting the facts in front of a JOP and have no issue with violating your Charter Rights!
