kirkland dog food
Any one have input on this brand of dog food. The dog food advisor gives it 4 out 5 stars. This is what the current breeder is feeding the pup's and I'm picking it up may the 9th so - want it to be ready. It would be great if it is a good brand. The amount of shopping my wife does at costco. It shouldn't be a problem keeping a stock at home. And it will give her another excuse to go there.

Any info from " the dog food adviser" imo is questionable.
I'm not as fussy about dog food as some and Kirkland looks fine to me.
Kirkland has a very good reputation with dog breeders and dog show exhibitors, especially in areas served by Costco, and many people say they have been feeding the food for years with good results.

If its at costco its probably a good price - I know a lot of people use it. I say go for it, especially if the dog is on it already. Forget about the dogfoodadvisor site - it's far from accurate.

In my assessment, my dogs at that time (trial dogs) had no bottom end.

Agreed on previous post re the dog food advisor site. Fact is, you cannot assess a food based solely on an ingredients list.
I'd say keep your dog on the food the breeder is feeding, at least until you're ready to move off puppy food.
-
I say keep your dog on the Kirkland if your breeder is using it with good results. For the most part dog food adviser is very accurate as i have fed many of the top brands that they rate as a 4 to 5 star with excellent results.

We used to buy the Nutro brand at $52/ bag when my lab was younger. Now we have switched to the Kirkland brand and she loves it. She's 14 and still a trooper. I recommend Kirkland.

I don't think you will have a problem with it, but if you notice the dog is losing weight come hunting season, then you will know its time to switch to something high performance.

I am on my third bag, switched from pro plan 30 20. The kirkland premium adult with chicken is 26/16 I believe, ingredients look good, price looks better, two 18 kilo bags for $75 including taxes. Pup seems to be doing well on it, shes skinny as a rail and is eating twice what the bag recomends for a dog her size, but that was the same with the pro plan.

My lab is allergic to poultry and has been on the Kirkland salmon & sweet potato for the last 3 years. Much less expensive than other truly non-poultry foods.

Kirkland tends to get pretty good reviews, must be a reason for that. Even on the dogfoodadvisor......

You've been pretty funny today.... prosciutto etc...LOL

I have had our dogs on the Kirkland dog food for well over 10 years. When our beagle hit age 8-9 I put her on the mature/senior food and it really helped to control her weight as she became less active. It is all our 3 year old small munsterlander has ever had and he is in perfect health.

I've had my 2 samoyeds on kirkland dog food for several years now. Made the switch from the very expensive Royal Canin 'premium' food after our dogs were frequently sick. I recommend Kirkland.
