Hey guys, looking to upgrade the casting reel. I am looking for an average gear ratio, nothing too crazy (revo rocket), and my price range is 150 to 200. I'd like something smooth, and durable, and of course cast ability is a big one. Can any body give me some suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I personally love Abu Garcia products. Also, Ardent makes nice stuff too.

No problem. I have no experience with those ones, so not much help there....
I love my Curado's I have 6 rigged up.
I suggest the Shimano Curado I. Great ergos, super smooth and will cast a mile.
The Curado series is probably the most tried, tested and used baitcaster in the business.
I replied to your other thread but yeah I just got my first Curado I and it is unbelievable. Shimano really did a nice job with them this time!
Curado I is nice. Also consider the Chronarch e which is on sale at Lebaron right now
I picked up a very lightly used shimano calcutta 100 TE DC for a little more than 200 last year. What a reel best BC I have ever used,amazing distance on casting and total control with no backlashing. I own a curado 200 e7 and a revo sx which are both great reels,but the calcutta is the cats .
Do you need a flippin' switch or bait clicker?
I have purchased three brands and like them very much. I first got the Abu Garcia Silver Max and upgraded to Boca Bearings to improve the performance. I also like my Lew's reel Speed Spool. Recently I got the Daiwa Tatula 100 and it is a great reel too.
I think they're prepping for the new chronarch so the 200e is on sale for $189 at sail

Can't go wrong with a curado
Quantum accurist is a good choice too light smooth and it's got the flippin switch. Around 150$. If you don't like the shimanos.
Accurist pt...someone in the industry told me he thought that was the best deal for an affordable but high performing casting reel. I think it's $99 at BPS.
I have to make a good choice and contemplate for my nest reel the calcutta! I just never see pro's using the round style casters, and so I have stuck with the tear drop style baitcasters. Apparently they do cast very far. I ended up getting a curado for a great price, and it is awesome!
The round ones I believe are larger. Maybe more for musky, salmon or saltwater fish.Quote:

I bought the Citica last year and really like it - it was only $100 on sale and I am really happy with it. But this year I was at Fishing World picking up ammo and the guy there mentioned there was a sale on the Garcia's (sell at cost) - I was looking at a Revo S but walked out with a Revo STX for $135. I could not say no to it.
Santa was nice to me this year and I got a Daiwa Tatula 100HSL (lefty retrieve) that I'm looking forward to using this season for chucking jerkbaits and topwaters...not expensive as they run about $170 before tax.
you cant beat shimano or daiwa products. guarantee that when you try it you wont go back to any other brand. i used lew's for a bit and got rid of it.
