I decided not to hunt a spring bear because I still had enough meat in the freezer and decided to take a new hunter out. I only asked him one thing,be dead on at 30 yards with a riffle. My ladder stand is a single and placed a ground blind at 22 yards.but had the wrong wind. After I watched a big bear for an hour and not a single bear going to the bait,I decided on plan B. I put him in the tree stand and left. for the tuck on the 4 wheeler. Shortly after a bear came down wind and huffed at the hunter than 20 minutes before last light two big bears came in. the one pulled the barrel over and laid down to eat. Even though everything was blurry,he took the shot. I arrived just after last light and pushed another big bear off the bait.
I looked around for blood and asked what happen.He said it crashed twice but no death moan. Decided it was best to let him lay and came back in the morning with Nanook.he brought his wife thinking he made a good shot,but only found one tiny speck of blood and we searched the area and trails for two hours,nothing. my dog has a cow bear to warn all the bears. The shot bear came back the next few nights,he's now nocturnal.
Any ways these are videos from the evening and the next few days until the camera quit.

I am going up in the morning to bait. The neighbour says there is a 600 lb bear that has been around for the last 3 weeks.
I will be putting out the cameras and see just how big it really is.

Lol,600 pounds is huge considering the Bears in Alberta top out at 350-360 pounds, although the trophy pictures make them seem like -500 pounders. good Luck Judge where is this bear suppose to be. I hope to have a least one fantastic bear picture this fall. I set a cam on a hanging beaver,so I'm expecting some good videos.
I have a video of a excellent bear about 40 inches tall,I post in a few days. Studying for my guide licence.

By the way the big bear is suppose to be on the Bruce Peninsula .
That's where we are set up, this is by first attempt at bear , other than 35 years ago.

Lol,i hunted the Bruce back in late 70s and early 80s. You should do well,remember stand placement.
