Funny.
I drove from my cottage near Arden up 41 to Pembroke this weekend and saw tons of signs protesting this one.
Fighting is both futile and expensive. This government owes the wind farm industry and has a majority. Nothing can be done. Get used to it there will be many more go up. Interestingly you never hear about them being planned for the Lake Ontario lakeshore? They could line them up from Oshawa to Niagara and have them close to the highest power consumers and next to what is likely the best source of reliable wind being Lake Ontario. I wonder why that isn't part of the plan? :ninja: Ontario had a chance to stop this scandal last election but gave it the "big thumbs up" by not only reelecting her but giving her a crushing majority mandate. Live with it, nothing can be done and with the electoral laws now in her power the Libranos will likely rule for at least 12 more years.
My township shot it down somehow - Dawn Euphemia
I hope this doesn't go through. My cottage is very close from there.
They are putting some up around us here in pontypool one is 500 feet tall right on top of the water akwafer that supply to us and all along the moraine these windmills hold over 400 litres of toxic gear oil and if one leaks it out all wells over the moraine development are screwed. Wynn is getting a good job from the turbine people when she leaves office and we will be paying high electric rates
I'm actually pretty surprised that they're staging this at all. Isn't the proposed area smack dab in the Algonquin Land Claim area?
I still cannot figure out why they were allowed in the first place.
Ont Hydro pays them $0.70 per kw and sells it to us for $0.13 how in the h e ll can we keep the future price of hydro down with this business plan.
Liberals don't care about "business plan". They only care about "dogma" and their failed Green Energy Plan. I hope that a few years down the road when these wind farms lay idle from this abject failure, all the idle wind generators stand as a lasting monument and testament to Liberal fumbduckery.
Except Trimmer, we will be left with thousands of hectares of rural agricultural and pristine ecosystems plowed under, and eye sores and concrete in their place.
Oh the irony.
When you start looking at all the projects and where they are it would be nice to see many of them cancelled. They want to put in over 250 on the Bruce Peninsula.

Interesting how people get concerned when they are proposed in the area they live in or have a cottage in ,yet so many where silent when so many other areas fought this liberal boondoggle.
Funny that eh TM? Funnier still are the people that championed it, wanted it. Talked about the jobs it would create, how it was the future and more. Completely ignoring concerns about reliability, cost, foot prints and blights on the landscape. Then again the Red machine represents in essence just two urban centers.
Nymbyism at it's finest.
Fast Forward to today and even left leaning media cant do much but call spades spades.
Yep Dalton and Ms Wind have their Legacy alright.

Wynne and McG have also ignored and watered down environmental laws.... to protect the environment...:silly::silly:
Many articles here...

But even if you win the Gov't can appeal, and has an interesting video about the Ministry of Environment's actually helping to fund appeals to destroy the environment.

and the 9 in Prince Edward County (that even the David Suzuki org opposes) and on April 24th video above I guess the province is still helping...it is being appealed, lost, appealed won and looks like keeps going.

Which is funny when you think about the things Harper is so often ripped for. Be it some environmental things the jury is out on, gagging scientist ( I guess that's worse than ramming windfarms down peoples and rural communities throats)...the possible health concerns and mounting evidence there, and on and on.
Despite being a suburbanite and resident of the GTA. Sometimes I wonder how it is people can be so blind to what's occurring outside the city or if they ever actually spend any time looking around. If they've ever actually driven anywhere in the province other than on the 400 to the Muskoka's or 135 to the Kawartha's.
Everytime I visit Grey Bruce, some area's of SW Ont or Eastern Ont I just want to gag at the eyesores and blight, let alone the other issues that the GEA has caused.
JBen,
I travelled to Nashville in February to meet an Australian buddy of mine who was in town for business meetings. Two buddies of mine and a friend of one of my buddy. The four of us drove down because it was less expensive than flying. We drove on the 401 to Windsor. Straight through the massive windfarms in Chatham-Kent county. I could count the number of turbines rotating on one hand. As a farm kid and an outdoorsman, I was simply at a loss at the amount of good farmland in use for that eyesore. The topic got to the windfarm and how the turbines weren't rotating, etc. I made a comment about how much of an eyesore they were and my buddy's friend (from Toronto) says "I don't see them as an eyesore". I let him explain himself and then I asked him this question: Would you still feel that way if you had to live here the rest of your life? He said probably not but because he didn't have to live here, he didn't have to see it so he is ok with it. This is the mentality we are dealing with for this issue. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
Dyth
The citiots and liberals who think these turbines are great don't own land affected by this and likely don't see them either. Why do you think it is none are built near and in the GTA? For liberals wrecking the value of a family farm is perfectly OK. These damned things cost us money every day that they actually spin. How these crooked imbeciles not only got elected but handed carte blanche and the keys to the vault is just bizzare. mind boggling......
i found this on the addington highlands website http://www.addingtonhighlands.ca/NPC...bigh-FINAL.pdf
My question is who is using or needing all this hydro
Terry without a doubt as Dyth said outdoors people, nature and enviroment "lovers" will see things for what they are.
I wonder sometimes how people can't look around and not see what this govt has, is doing. Be that as it may.
Many of those people loathe Harper for Some of his environmental, "dictatorship", secrecy, blah blah. Ok, fair points even if to date nothing has really materialized but fair criticisms.
But they defend or vote or turn blind eyes to far far worse here at home. The blatant hypocrisy/ or contradictions are boggling.
And this is just the wind farm issue, mounting evidence of health issues arising. We have hydro rates, smart meters, brutal deals, the wonderful GEA. But there's so much more.
In short harper is the devil but.......
If there was a simple test to prequalify before voting most Ontarians would fail. I bet at least 1/3 can't name the MPP or MP in their riding.
Hang on just a sec.
I hate them. But let the blame be placed where it should.
In the case of the wind farms North of Orangeville, they are on private land. Not appropriated, but leased by places like Dufferin Wind Power Inc. ( China). It was the farmers themselves, and their greed that allowed it to happen.
The wind farms in Chatham-Kent are also located on private land.
The Libs have the lions share of the blame, but let's not ignore peoples greed at play either.
In the case of BonEcho, the Libs are wholly to blame, as they're seeking to install on Crown.
I think ( am not sure) that's not always the case BBD.
Well worth the hour of anyones time.
http://tvo.org/video/211702/big-wind
It delves into mounting anecdotal health/medical issues and the provinces "response".
It delves into battles between farmers ( your points above)
It delves into Buzz Hargroves role...
It delves into greed by the wind companies
It delves into property values.
It delves into how farmers often live by credit
It delves into how lenders determine someones credit worthiness, and for farmers that means the value of their land. So even if they have no plans to put their century farms up for sale. It kneecaps their ability to borrow.
and much more
oh where oh where are the green champions and Lib supporters. Harper has nothing on Ms Wind.
Really, the federal government has not gutted environmental projects,in the least, other than to eliminate duplication and waste. Their only "crime" was to permanently lay off the pigs at the trough. They're the only ones screaming the loudest and we really can't blame them. They had a really good gig.....while it lasted. Nobody likes to lose a job, especially,if all they needed to do to get paid was show up at the office two or three days a week. Every last one of them qualified for the "sunshine list". On the other hand, provincially,we have a government that is thoroughly corrupt in everything they're involved with. At the top of the list is the GEA. those clowns have free rein to do whatever the h**l they want for the next three years. The next government will have a terrible mess to clean up.
We have the same fight on Oxford county right now with the guns hill wind farm. The county is a unwilling partnering this and is fighting right now over the right away of the power lines .as all power company's can put thete lines in the road ways .just sucks to be forced to be the host and not want them
i just want to ask if they can justify the money if such as these events happen
https://media.giphy.com/media/EKPhr9o0sS1ig/giphy.gif
but in general to me it doesn't make sense to produce thousands of supply where there is no demand. especially for technology that required to be constantly operated when it can not be producing the power itself... it just not 'economical' at all; even worse. its not green.
