Very scary! We can't afford the NDP.
3 months is an eternity in politics but I think Harper is sunk. Too much stacking up against him. Senate scandals, MP's jumping ship, and the economy going downhill. NDP has trended up for weeks and CPC trended down. There hasn't been any good news in weeks. I think we're screwed.
I wonder how long it will take for Mulcair to appoint Buzz Hargrove and Syd Ryan to the Senate? I wonder if JT will throw a tantrum and scoop up all his toys and leave the sandbox or will the Liberals stab him and appoint yet another loser? Either way, I think Harper is done. What is also troubling is I don't see anybody in the PC party to step in quickly and effectively.
Mulcair will increase income taxes, introduce Carbon taxes, increase the HST, increase the size of government, increase the budget at the CBC. All of which will be negative to the economy and erode the private sector. He's in his 60's so realistically likely doesn't want to work another 10 yrs, one mandate will be enough to feed his ego and set him up financially. I feel sorry for my kids. Who knows, Maybe I can learn to like black olives.....Opahh !!!!!!
I think we'll see some pretty wild gyrations in the next while leading up to the election. Everybody and their uncle will come up with poll after poll to try and advance their own agenda. Despite protestations to the contrary, all polls are deliberately skewed to read the way the pollsters want.
Threehundredeight.com is not a poll though. It's an aggregate of all polls in the field. This guy is very credible.
Angry Tom isn't entirely the squeeky clean guy many think he is though.......

Wild gyrations, wild speculations, wild exaggerations.... usual. The media coverage will be what sink Harper if anything, Wynne thanked CBC for it's help after the win and Trudeau and Mulcair have both promised CBC millions more. The Senate, all the big spenders are Liberal but they talk about Duffy endlessly, economy... just think what a Liberal or NDP gov't would do to that! The attacks and distortion are just starting from CBC, the Liberals and the NDP. They will do anything to get power, heck they took Eve Adams and we can see the fear mongering and lying on C-42 and to win... they will use any tactics for sure to gain power.... and lying and fear mongering worked in Ontario with CBC running as campaign promoters so????
I've posted this before about the Liberals fear mongering and lying but here it is again. (C-42_

Justin Trudeau said
“First, it eliminates the need for owners of prohibited and restricted firearms to have a transportation license to carry those guns in their vehicles. This means they could freely transport handguns or automatic weapons anywhere within their province, whether to a grocery store or a soccer field.
MP's leaving, I think there are likely still more leaving too and they are waiting on what they see in the polls. Many see a big advantage to leaving now and getting the option of an early retirement and higher pension. (55 instead of 67, future MP's will pay more in contributions etc.) Harper's changes to make the pensions fair to Canadians but it also takes some of the gravy off the political gravy train. To be honest If I was in their position it would be hard pressed to want to stay, retiring at 55 instead of 67, that wait 10 more years for a pension, the uncertainty etc. Why would you want to stay if you had already maxed your pension and could get it 12 years earlier.... especially if it looks like you might end up being in the losing party. (Imagine being in gov't with another Trudeau as Prime Minister, especially after the messes the first one created)

That makes 33 Conservatives MPs who have either left or plan to leave, in addition to 14 New Democrats, five Liberals and seven others who won't be running again, for a total of 59 exiting incumbents, according to a tally on PunditsGuide.ca.
I can totally see this country voting in an NDP government.
Lots of the country hate the Conservatives, because they've been told to hate Conservatives. Lots see through the Liberal's BS. I think there are lots that want change. They see the economy sinking, and blame the conservatives on a reliance on oil, they see job losses in the West and they want change, hence the Alberta NDP government.
It started in the last federal election where barmaids and students were elected over...more qualified candidates...not because of who they were or what they knew or could do, but more because of who they weren't...That's my take on it.
Hold on this is going to be a bumpy ride.
FW... you are likely right. That's how Ontario ended up with Boob Rae ! The latest pole still has Harper as the favourite PM, not by much, but still in the lead!!
I find it strange that people say we rely on oil. Yes of course it is a very valuable natural resource and we exploit as best we can while there is a strong demand for it. Should we leave it in the ground and wait 100 yrs when some new technology renders it less valuable? Oil makes up less than 10% of our revenue so we aren't exactly a 1 industry country like the middle East is. Harper does not control the global oil market. He does his best to position us to make as much money off it as possible. He has no control on US Fracking and natural gas expansion. He has no control on OPEC production. He has no control on Russian production yet people think he does? Of course Harper has subsidized oil production. Why wouldn't we help a key sector of our exports. Do you really think that the left like in Alberta and likely the NDP when they take over will not use taxpayer dollars to subsidize their pet industries? They will merely switch the subsidies over to wind and solar. Look what a success and stimulus to industry that has proven to be with Wynne and the GEA. The Carbon taxes they are going to be introducing have proven to be total failures that have only made crooked people very rich and has not helped the environment at all. Hey, wait a minute..........
We are going to see a big change in the gas/oil industry. Especially in the car manufacturing and not being fueled by gas but battery. Tesla is huge and growing more and more each day and cannot keep up with the demand. Even GM sees Tesla as a threat and wants to get in on the action.
I unfortunately am neither a barmaid nor a student...sigh.
Not sure electric cars even have less of a footprint than an internal combustion one? Batteries aren't made out of corn. With Wynne selling off control of Hydro are you comfortable depending on the price of electricity dictating if you can afford to drive?
A lot of folks are already finding diesel or ng generators are cheaper than buying electricity from the grid. The cost of batteries might never go down far enough to offset increasing electricity
All we need to do is elect a left wing,anti-business,pro-labor government and the rest of our manufacturing base will disappear overnight, especially,in the auto sector. The Americans are offering huge tax incentives to companies that bring manufacturing back to the continental US and hammering the living crap out of companies that don't through brutal taxation. Economy-killing "green energy" is the mantra of the lefties. Although Canada's carbon footprint is 0.5% of the entire world output,Liberals under Trudeau and NeeDeePers under Mulcair have no problem saddling us with 30% of the carbon tax base, shovelling money to third world economies instead of shoring up our own. Liberals,in Onatrio, have no problem, whatsoever, channeling government work out of the country, from computer licensing systems to the US,shipbuilding to Chile while deliberately excluding our own Canadian companies, all the while yelling, screaming and pointing the finger at Conservatives with accusations of "racism" under the guise of political correctness. Mr.Trudeau wants to raise taxes by removing tax credits, all income and pension splitting,TFSA's and everything else he can think of to support socialist programs we not only don't need, but, more importantly, can't possibly afford. Mr.Mulcair wants a socialist utopia that would make Mr.Putin proud. The only problem is that it's only a socialist wet dream from which none of the little commie bas**rds have never awoken from.
