I saw the french channels were covering the PANAM games and did a search on "Canada PANAM shooting" after a late lunch... after about 10 minutes of interviews (no coverage, just interviews).... and found a horrendous (according to Liberals) event... PISTOL SHOOTING.

Not interested in the Pan Am games even though the wife has a family member competing in it. I would sooner watch ribbon gymnastics.

They should receive more coverage in the media - but I won't hold my breath.

I wonder what Alan Rock and his ilk who believe that only the police and military should be able to have firearms feels about this? Ladies peacefully using firearms to represent Canada - and winning gold!

Not to mention the anti-handgun types who believe that the only purpose of a pistol is to kill!

I guess on the weekend, I thought it was a week or so off yet too. I was flipping channels and spotted the coverage on the French channel, it came on the English later.

I'm not watching any of it,although,I have financially supported some athletes. As far as TV coverage on CBC,they can ram jam their PC editorial BS up their a**es....sideways.

I went to see the rugby with my daughters yesterday and canada won gold in both men and women but no excitement anywhere but there. We all play it and i will say it was absolutely fantastic!!! But no coverage.

Apparently the figurer skating done on roller skates (didn't even know that was a thing) wasn't televised either. Who's agenda is that?

Yah of course, my point is the coverage is beyond pathetic even with their having spent millions to get the coverage. Rugby, mountain biking (both Canadian Gold)... to be honest...who cares, someone probably! CBC of course has shown none of the shooting (multiple Gold) that is expected!

My issue is the pathetic coverage, millions spent, and when I turned it on yesterday while working there was an hour or so of synchronized diving and seeing Peru and Chile make multiple dives instead of covering another event for even 1 minute. CBC gets about $90,000,000 a month in taxpayer's money, millions more in advertising and is incapable of providing the coverage a private company (that they outbid using taxpayer's money) can.

We know they won't cover it but it is the same contempt for firearms owners, hunting and shooting sports that will guarantee no coverage at all. Same as with Canada in the Rough on Global, it doesn't fit with their political agenda. JUST the hunting licenses alone in Ontario are more than $20,000,000 and probably 5 or 6 times that in additional spending. To be ridiculous let's say Barrie has only 200 members and at $375 for a year ( I checked) that is $75,000 in just that one club. Not alot but when you look at how many clubs, how many are bigger, the amount spent besides the memberships, to say there is no money in it would seem to be delusional or ignorance.

Once again since it appears you didn't bother reading my comments or couldn't understand it I will repeat again and even highlight it.

My issue, is with the pathetic coverage and spending an hour of a two hour coverage on synchronized diving is just beyond idiotic coverage. Wasting millions of tax payer dollars to get the exclusive rights outbiding private companies, I have heard they are charging huge amounts for advertising and yet CBC are so incompetent they show the Peru divers making 3 dives (probably a minute each) instead of covering mountain biking, rugby etc. I know they would never show firearms used in a sensible and professional manner but CBC is pathetic in their coverage!

I'm going to play Swiss on this but That's pretty easy to explain. Those shows always show guns/gun owners in a bad light and only the authorities use of guns as acceptable.

Simple, the gun = violence delusion. They have no issue with a gun killing someone, it portraits the use of the firearm in a negative light and it becomes associated with violence. We see it clearly in the Liberal reaction to C-42 and it's association of a firearm with a threat and violence.

I'm a gun owner, and I don't want any more restrictions on the use of my firearms, but at the same time, I don't want anyone showing up to my kids soccer match with one. As for what the broadcasters are up to, I am at the limit of my knowledge and understanding - if they are going to show diving, they should have shown the trap shooting.

We can agree that the Pan Am games in Toronto is a waste of money. Let's leave it at that.

Why would you be scared of someone carrying a firearm showing up if they were a legal owner, when I was a kid I would walk to school through the front door, to the shop class where everything was locked up for the day and then rode with the shop teacher out to the trap range with a couple other teachers and students. No SWAT, no cowering in fear, no panic... why? Because people weren't ignorant and fear mongered by lies by the Liberals, CBC etc. ....

Jonathan Login for example did nothing wrong and was strip searched, body cavity searched and spent 10's of thousands on legal fees due to the attitude and fear mongering. The OPP I knew growing up would have been cautious but it would have been inconceivable for them to act like that. Years later, new OPP, someone was stealing gas from the tanks of the one farmer and his neighbour parked the car on the bridge and went and called the police. He had been out and had the shotgun in the trunk, never took it out, but he was charged and the charges against the thief dropped... the difference.... education, attitude and respect for others and especially a firearm owner. For bill C-42 the one reporter talked about how the NFA "wanted to legalize semi-automatic guns", showing ignorance (they are legal... for now), dismissive and insulting in his attitude....

I drove by the Trap shooting venue today on my way home just out of curiosity as it was on my way. 2 girls sitting in lawn chairs by the road with an OPP cruiser parked there with lights flashing. I guess police protection is necessary with those unstable gun types competing and spectators too I guess. Wanna bet the RCMP is taking down license plate numbers in the designated parking lots :ninja:

Nah, they have it on records already somewhere. I don't know anything about the venue etc., if you find out if they allow walk ins and how much some time let me know and maybe we can get a few people together to break some clay. IF, work, family, cost allow.

I was at the Scottish clay shooting centre in Drumoig Scotland on Sat. We watched people break hundreds of clays in a row without a single miss. They were trying to improve their point totals so they could qualify for the Olympic trials. It was really something to see, they are fantastic, miss ONE and you are out, out of hundreds. After the trials you could rent a gun for 10 pounds (20$) plus shells and shoot for yourself.

This is the venue. I have never shot there but I hear it's easy and reasonably priced to walk in. My guess is the place is booked solid for weeks now with the games. But that would make a great place for a meet & Greet some time.

I'm a pretty good shot on game but started shooting Sporting Clays this summer and it is very humbling let's just say. At our club I have yet to see anybody go better than 20/25 and most of the regulars seem to do @ 15/25. So yeah these robot shooters who just keep crushing them shot after shot are a different species than I am.....LoL ! This is 5 stand clays though which is quite different than Int Trap but I'm sure those shooters would be as good on Skeet, Trap or Sporting Clays.

Some their guns were worth more than my truck, beautiful pieces of shooting equipment.

When I was growing up Adults brought firearms to the events all the time. It was just normal to have a 30-30 or something behind the bench seat or in the trunk. They never came out unless there was a reason( bears for example). You seem to think that just because a person has a firearm, they would be waving it around looking for something to shoot. Do you hunt that way? As soon as you load your rifle you go crazy trying to find something to kill?
I would bet dollars to dounuts that there have been firearms at your kids match more times then you know. I don't mean the ones owned by legal firearms owners.

If whining was an event TO would win the gold!! Why all this griping? Even if you are getting screwed you should relax and enjoy!!
