Air Canada - Letter campaign.

Not sure if this would work? What if every, fisherman/woman, hunter,vacationer, business traveller and anyone so inclined,all across Canada ,contacted Air Canada?? Be it by phone, fax,email or letters. A couple hundred inquiries to them would mean nothing, a couple thousand they might notice, a hundred thousand or more would be guaranteed to get their attention.

I currently have a trip to Jamaica booked with them in September. Piss-s me off now that I have to fly with them. This will be my last trip with them, I will use other carriers. Not that I am a big traveller compared to some,once , maybe twice some years. On most if not all vacations, I end up talking hunting and or fishing with several Canadians.

I think the ban was mostly symbolic and a feel good reaction from Air Canada.

If if they were inundated with reactionary correspondence, they might just take notice!!

Might garner some attention, might not. I feel better anyway getting my two pis-- d off cents weighed in on the subject.

The ban won't last very long, a lot of African Trophy hunter are in the Forbes list, they own companies that use those airline so they will put some pressure on them. I wouldn't even be surprised that some of the key people running those airlines are hunters too. Just a matter of time before everything go back to normal, but we need to stop talking about it or no one will forget about the all story.

I think the amount of people affected by this would barely fill a few charter flights in a year. From a pure $$/numbers view writing off Safari hunters is probably good business to an airline. Sad but reality.

I agree terrym,those directly affected would be a minority. I'm just saying if they heard from several thousand people chastising and ridiculing them, they might take notice. Doesn't have to be from safari hunters. But if it came from all walks of life it might have some clout. As I stated before, hunters, fishers, skiers, travellers and business people,and friends and families of all the aforementioned,standing up for another group, it should at least raise a few eyebrows.

I doubt it will ever come to fruition!! Just a noble thought and would love to see it happen and see their reaction!!

Maybe Ezra Levant would take them on , lol. Cheers everyone!

terrym, I obviously have a vested interest in this although on another post I mentioned that there are workarounds to avoid Air Canada. I read that about 15,000 Americans go a year, would be curious what the Canadian numbers are, in any case not huge numbers as you have stated. What's next though US to Canada etc ...? The guys that come see us in RSA are almost always blue collar guys who dole out around 5500 Cdn for a two person safari. These guys are our bread and butter and the ones that need protection from bans which inevitably start to inflate the prices.

Please don't misunderstand my stance on this. I fully support legal and ethical Safari hunting. I see it as essential for both economics and conservation. I see this campaign as very well orchestrated by the antis. Media will always team up with these people and actual facts and stats will never be properly reported. I wish you well in your Safari operation.

How easy for AC to follow the ban, they have no flight to Africa so very little to lose.....

Every single hunter, fisher, hounds man, bird dog owner and trapper , should imo ,never, ever take a cheap shot, snipe or condemn one another. Live and let live.

Numerous times in the past, we read on here one individual condemn someone else over petty b-ll Sh--t. Try to persuade someone to alter or change their thoughts on how they hunt, fish etcetera. As long as you are not breaking any fish and game acts laws or trespassing, have at it and enjoy.

If we as sportsman/ women, dog owners, trappers and natural " true " conservationists could all come together as one united group, standing tall and proud, it would be nice. We then become harder to target by the anti everything faction , as opposed to individual groups. Just my humble opinion.

Now did they just ban trophys from Africa or trophys in general?

Think of all the hunters going to the Yukon, NWT, BC, Alberta, Quebec.

This could end up being huge for those involved in hunting/guiding in Canada as well.

Fox, Air Canada has only banned a few mounts coming from Africa to Canada.

However within minutes of the press release, a lot of people were on ACs Facebook page asking when they were going to ban.
Exports such as Grizzlies, B Bear, Polar..

"Good Start Air Canada, now when will you ban Americans from taking Polar Bears home"
"Good start Air Canada, now when will you ban Grizzlys"

Polar bear has banned for a while.
Any bear and N.A. big game are not banned.

Look beyond trophy hunting and those affected by it.

Look at the bigger picture of where this could possibly go.

Any or all big game in North America.
Trophy fish from both here and abroad.

As for the airlines, they respond to the politically correct winds and the $. Groups like OFAH, SCI, NFA need to put some effort into.

An announcement from them and letters from their member would show a united front.

I travel a lot and even before the ban I try to avoid any flight with air Canada. Had 7 flights in the past year over sold and end up waiting.
