They are expensive as all hell but I am planning to go in 2019 or 2020. I will need some time to save up the dough.
Has anyone ever been to one of these outfitters?
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Heading for a week of Duck/Goose and coyote in Cold Lake, AB from 23-30 Sept, will be checking out deer/mule/moose and elk opportunities while there. I will report back, out of province deer tag cost is $174.00 (Brother sent me this years reg for fish/hunting).
Depending on the deer you are looking for ( I assume a big buck ). You should keep to the central zones. Meadow lake area has some huge deer so does nipawin. They have had some severe winters and the big deer took a beating. Your time line should give time baring any more bad winters for some 4 and 5 year old bucks. You can do it yourself in many areas in sk as well. But the non res tags have been slashed for the last two years. Good luck.
Not too many 300 lb bucks (dressed) in either province.
The good times in SK may be over for now, similar to Ontario:

Ontario has a different subspecies of whitetail (northern or boreal woodland) from what SK does (Dakota). The genetics of the Dakota are generally larger with bigger antlers. The current B&C record typical is from SK (Milo Hanson's).
The heavy Ontario bucks are more a product of agricultural feeding than of genetics.
I haven't hunted SK, but from what I have read, the best hunting is late season, where you will be hunting in frigid temps from a blind, likely over bait.
I don't even know where to begin with this one.
1. This would be a once in a lifetime trip for me. I don't think it would be a "waist" of money at all.
2. There is a reason ppl go to Sask to hunt whitetails. They are probably the biggest in the world. Perhaps you may have heard of the Milo Hansen buck?
2. I know how to hunt whitetails, and have been doing it for years. I have shot several bucks in Ontario. I never said anything about learning how to hunt them, so I dont know why you would assume that I don't know what I am doing.
3. Thank you for the useless and irrelevant information about target shooting and Silverdales. Not sure where I mentioned anything about that.
4. Stay in your lane
Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware the numbers were down.
Its been a dream of mine for a while to take a big sask whitetail. A non typ with gnarly drop tines is my ultimate dream.
The area i bow hunt doesn't have great numbers or genetics. I've never shot anything much bigger than 110-120". So i figure if i can save up the money and plan a trip for a few years out, why not go to one of outfitters ive seen on TV and give it a shot to come home with a buck of a lifetime.
Thanks for the input guys
That would be an awesome trip!!!!
That guy regularly posts crap like that accusing other hunters of being lazy.
if I had the cash I would be all over a hunt with jim shockey ,,he has some great land to hunt in the cold white north with some great deer to show for it ,,plus if I had his daughter as I guide I am sure we could stay warm in the blind ,,,,,I love those dark horned whitetails ,,Dutch
Id spend that kind of cake on an elk hunt, dont know if a guided deer hunt would persuade me to go to that distance. But hey it sounds like an awesome trip so I'm sure the op will get what he wants out of it.... You only get one life to live, so live it up!!!!
I've been out west a bunch of times and the body size of the deer out there is ridiculous.
Yes there are huge deer in Ontario but the average size doesn't even compare from Alberta/Saskatchewan. I've been on hunts out there where deer that guys wouldn't dream of passing on here in Ontario are passed without a second thought about it.

Been to Sk several times before the crash. Never used an outfitter. Canadian hunters can hunt most anywhere.
Yeah up to 2010 it was an awesome place. I lived in PA and had friends out every year. But now canadian Rez hunters have to draw a tag and priority is given to canadian residents with family in SK. I have applied for the last two years and havnt been successful. The outfitter will ensure that you have a tag to hunt on. I'm just hunting ducks out there till the population bounces back.
Hi Ted
Two friends of mine hunted in Sask one took a non typical, nineteen points, something like that and the second knew a farmer and he hunted glassing hills and hunting the coulees. He took a twelve pointer. Some really big racked deer, most of the hunts are in a blind over bait and it can get very cold. Go on to Ontario trophy bucks website there will be guys there who can suggest some good guides for sure. Great bucket list hunt all the best of luck and for those that have to make silly replies just take into consideration where it is coming from.
If you want a big bodied and big racked whitetail then absolutely look to Saskatchewan. Don't limit your search to just Sask though. I would also look at Western Manitoba and BC as I would think the genetics spill into there also. There are other great "bucket list" hunts you might want to look into also. A flyin caribou hunt in Quebec is great too especially if you combine it with Arctic Char fishing. When we went to the Ungava we had 2lb Char for breakfast everyday and Ptarmigan for lunch. I bet the prices aren't that far apart and your odds of a trophy would be better. Although most hunters on here would give a kidney for a 250lb 170 class Alberta buck.
Thanks for the input guys.
