Get rid of ants

I know this is wayyyy off topic - but I'm hoping someone out there has an answer for me. I have a big outdoor ant problem. 5 or 6 years ago I found an ant hill in the grass on my lawn. I live in the country with a 150 x 200 lot and it is not "city manacured" so I was not overly concerned. . Since then I have gained a couple of ant hills every year. I now have approx. 10 of them thriving. I know those little red tin traps don't work outside.
If anyone has a reliable way of KILLING the little darlings I would be very gratefull to hear it.

Try mixing borax and powdered sugar 50/50 and put it out by the ant hills. The ants will feed on it and will eventually kill them off. Only thing you have to be concerned about is rain. Other than that a bit of gasoline or diesel fuel poured over the ant hills, let it soak in and burn them out. Only problem is their tunneling can go as deep as 3 ft or so.

I did see a program where a guy poured molten aluminum over an ant hill, waited for it to cool and dug it up and was selling it off as art. Looked pretty cool...

If you have ants they help keep termites away as they are natural enemies, just saying.

This is what I have done with success. Get a plastic container with a lid, punch a much of holes in the lid, put your fifty-fifty mix in, and lay the container on its side near the colonies. Maybe shake some on the ground so they find it easier.

They may not take it immediately, but will eventually trust the food source and bring it on back home.

boiling water will cut down on the numbers. might need gas for the rest though!

I bought this liquid and killer at Home Depot It had a spray attachment and the instructions said to just spray the top of the mound every day. I poured the whole two litres on the surface and I haven't seen an ant in three months. Can't grow grass there now either.

Well gents, the gasoline method works great. I hit 4 ant hills with a healthy dose of gasoline and the ants seem to be non-existent now. Lighting the gas is not necessary (but probably fun) as I think its the fumes suffocating the little buggers that does the trick. I poured at least a quart into each hill.
I still have a half dozen hills to destroy but am real happy to have found an effective method.

Overkill...a Mini 14 would do just as good but it has to be tactialized!

Spenda was originally developed as ant killer. Works on the little red ones.

Mixing icing sugar & baking soda 50/50 works.

pretty much my recommendation, but the OP decided with 'fire' as one of its elements. scorched earth comes to mind.
