Some would call it liberation! To all those who said they would leave the country if the Libs won......... have fun in your new country. Although those are the same folks who said they would leave the province if the Libs won provincially, and they are still here.
To be frank,
I've voted a lot in the past 20 years. This election is much different. I'm truly scared if Trudeau gets in. I've always voted Conservative, but if they don't get re-elected, I hate to admit, I'd rather see Mulcair get in than that no-brained twit.
I'll be happy when it is all over and people can stop telling me who I should vote for. Would be nice to see something new on the Facebook feed as well.
Scary thing is people all jump on the bandwagon to vote for a certain candidate without knowing why they are voting for them. Same goes for the "Harper Must Go" movement - most have no idea why he needs to go they just join the screaming and kicking of others.
In the end I hope people get out and exercise their democratic right and vote.
From "The Great Degeneration" by Niall Ferguson
"The welfare state is not part of democracy as the ancient Athenians conceived it. In bee terms, the welfare state seems to create an ever increasing number of dependant drones whom the worker-bees have to support. It also employs a great many bees simply to transfer resources from the workers to the drones. And it seeks to finance itself by accumulating claims on future bees, in the form of public debt"
The welfare state is unsustainable. A vote for anyone other than the Conservative party is a vote for the welfare state.
When I hear of the Liberals and their talk of a carbon tax I think of this.
From "Things that Matter" by Charles Krauthammer
"The playbook is well known. As Czech president (and economist) Vaclav Klaus once explained, environmentalism is the successor to failed scocialism as justifiation for the all-pervasive rule by a politburo of experts. Only now it acts in the name of not the proletariat but the planet"
I've got a real rock in my gut, turning my stomach. Pretty sure JT takes it with a minority.
At that point, all I could really hope for is that he actually does mouth off to Putin, who immediately mops the floor with him and exposes him for the panty waist he is... So we can elect an actual leader in 2-3 yrs.
I haven't lost all hope yet. I was in the UK this spring when they had their federal election. According to the polls and the media the leading up to the election the conservatives were on their way out no way they could win. In the end common sense prevailed and they ended up with a conservative majority. They suffer from the same left leaning liberal media that we do.
Not sure if in my life, there's been an election more important than this one.
It's not tomorrow that "scares" me, it's where we will be in 2-4years if the Liberals win a minority. Harper for all his faults, hasn't gutted us. JT is an imbecile, less grey matter the McGuinty, when you look at who is on his "team".
/shiver
Then look at the direction ALTA is heading and the state of Ontario where so many are being pummeled by Hydro and taxes.
There's a part of me that suspects quite strongly, those who vote for JT because they are tired or hate Harper. Will in a year or two be a lot like those who have voted for the Provincial Liberals here.
Silent and embarrassed
There has been, and always will be the silent conservative vote. The ones that play their cards close, and generally let their votes speak for them.
It's my sincerest hope that most of JTs supporters are the vocal ones, and there are very few silent ones.
The anyone but Harper movement seems to be filled with dullards, and idiots who are very easily manipulated by propaganda. I've even had a member of family confess that although he doesn't like Harper, he's voting conservative.....
Liberal minority government shouldn't go anywhere. As long as NDP don't support them, nothing will get passed in Parliament. It will be a good way to see if the NDP are the real deal or not.
After some sterile meetings in Parliament, there will be a vote of no confidence, and another election in 1 year from now. Get ready for a repeat (is my prediction).
I predict a Conservative majority. A slim one for sure but majority none the less.
I think the beginning of the end for harper was when john baird stepped down in March. This signalled discontent in his inner circle, then macKay and moore followed. I don't think there is any coming back from that. I think at best you will see a minority consrervitive government, and either way it goes, I think harper will step down. He's lost the confidence of his party.
Well, the polls today show JT as almost a sure win. Polls can get it wrong though. Liberal supporters many times don't bother to vote. This weekend for example I had my daughter and 2 friends in my car and realized none of them will be around today as they will be back at school out of town. I bet 80% of university students don't vote. Conservative voters tend to vote. It's all over and all we can do now is hope JT doesn't get a majority.
Many , many pols show students do not vote conservative......Yes.... please tell all you know , to get out and vote, I would rather the party I want to get in , lose with 80% or greater voter turnout, than win, with 50% or less, of eligible voters casting a ballot.:scream:..... Let those who care decide, the others ...SHUT UP!
Rant over???? The people have spoken!!!
As much as I despise Trudough and his self entitled silver spoon life what burns me more is that the biggest witch and scam artist ( Wynne) will be cackling to the bank knowing Trudough will pay her back with $ billions$ that she will use to pay off the unions and give themselves raises all in the name of infrastructure spending. Trudough will likely also assist in collecting the Ontario pension ripoff which Harper refused to do. She has JT bouncing like a marionette and she controls the strings. Add up the increased Hydro, Carbon taxes and their trickle down inflationary effect, the guaranteed PS wage increases to pay the unions back and the average taxpayer who isn't on the public payroll will likely see a 10% erosion of their disposable income. Ontario voters are imbeciles.
I'm scared of what nasty anti-gun "controls" a Liberal majority would impose on us. Stuff that will make Bill C-68 look tame.
Over on the Gunnutz forum a guy is suggesting that the Liberals will bring in their old "central storage area for guns" plot. Hopefully that's just tinfoil hat stuff. But maybe? JT says they won't bring back the Registry but what will they do?
Well the libs got 32 seats in the east coast so far conservative got 2 . Not looking good at all. Dutch
I should know better than to put too much stock in early tallies... But.... SHEEEEEYIIIIIIIT.
This east coast is scary.
It is over boys,.......... I can hear your complaining for the next 4 years already. I guess 70% of the people must know what they want , or better yet , what they don't want..
You think the voters out east, care about the GTA? You just want a con. government , well .........70% of your fellow Canadians, don't.
I did not get what I want, so you, ( 7 of 10), have made a mistake and are wrong,........ how childish would that sound, to an 8 year old kid.
Looks like they have declared the liberals have won, they are just not sure minority or majority...
Do you hold Harper responsible for the dollar going from a high of over 1.15 down to 72 cents ?
oddly Harper only balances budgets in election years?
National debt increased every year Harper was prime minister
i voted conservative as my anybody but Trudeau or Angry Tom protest vote
well thats trucking disapointing
Ahhhhhhhh.
Trudeau promised to get rid of income splitting for tax purposes. . That has given my husband and I about $3000.00 a year in income tax return .
An example of the no-lose candidates the Libs ran this year... Monsef in Ptbo. Young, female, Afghan immigrant.
Never held a full time job - of any sort!
Lives with her MOTHER
Has never owned a home
Has never cared for a family
Personally I like Maryam, she was at my wedding, she's my wife's close friend... It's absolutely moronic that she became an MP tonight.
This is truly embarrassing for Canadians. The first time Trudope opens his mouth on the world stage everyone will see what a buffoon he really is.
And he has a majority in large part because of the same voters who gave Wynne one. God help us.
I looked using Ufile last year at the difference and it isn't that much but IF he rolls back all he said, I think alot will be shocked, add in CPP changes (atleast $1,000 each) and I figure well over $4,000 easy for us.

Another Trudeau coming to power, a sad day for a Canada that cares.
Lied to repeatedly - Canadians didn't care.
Will abandon those fighting ISIL - Canadians didn't care.
Admires dictatorships - Canadians didn't care.
Voted to legalize prostitution - Canadians didn't care.
Roll back tax cuts - Canadians didn't care.
Roll back mandatory sentences for criminals - Canadians didn't care.
Illegal drug user - Canadians didn't care.
took money from charities while both rich and making $150K+ - Canadians didn't care.
Says the best Canadians are Quebecers - Canadians didn't care.
Will waste more money on the CBC - Canadians didn't care.
A divisive, dishonest and dismissive campaign - Canadians didn't care.
Wanted to legalize marijuana - Canadians didn't care.
Said he would "tweak" taxes for small businesses - Canadians didn't care.
Reprimanded by the Ukraine Ambassador - Canadians didn't care.
Advisors like Gerald Butts and Omar Alghabra - Canadians didn't care.
About 1/4 to 1/3 of our gas price is tax and he still wants to add a carbon tax - Canadians didn't care.
Son of the worst Prime Minister in Canada will soon be Canada's new Prime Minister. because - Canadians didn't care.
Sad what Canada has become and to think what it will become under our soon to be Prime Minister!
To paraphrase the late, great Marion Robert Morrison:
I didn't vote for him, but he's my Prime Minister, and I hope he does a good job.
The Canadian electorate has spoken and they want what the Liberals offered as an alternative to what the other parties offered. Canadians will reap what they sowed in a few years. While I didn't agree with everything in the past 10 years that Stephan Harper did as PM, I believe he got issues more right than wrong. He didn't really come off as warm and cuddly but those qualities aren't necessary to be a good, effective leader. I think he was often maligned in the media and no matter which way he decided on an issue, he was going to be wrong.
Do I think Trudeau has the chops for the top job? No I do not. Most of what Trudeau has shown me has not impressed me. I highly doubt on the world stage he will show the world anything else. I have a feeling Canada is going to be losing a lot of world respect in the next four years based on how Trudeau conducts himself.
Dyth
Quite frankly I don't think "warm & cuddly" makes for an effective CEO/PM. When sitting at the table with Putin or Merkel these leaders won't be asking for a "selfie" with Trudough. They will school him and Canada will look like buffoons. But I wouldn't get too excited yet about his campaign promises. He has a strong majority so doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want for at least 3 years. Cretien signed onto Kyoto, was going to back out of NAFTA and scrap the GST remember. JT's first priority will be to fill the 25 vacant Senate seats that Harper stupidly refused to fill. That would have bought us some time with Conservative stacked Senate. Too late now.
Most gun clubs in Ontario are dominated by the "black gun" community. The guys who have restricted guns and like to play at 3 gun type venues should be very nervous about retaining the right to own this category of guns. Bill Blair the ex police chief of Toronto got elected and he is extremely antigun and will likely be a cabinet Minister and guns will be part of his portfolio. This is why I sold my BAR this summer while it still had value. I bet pistols sell cheap this week on Gunnutz.
Add in the ever rising Hydro and coming inflationary Carbon tax and I bet you will be out closer to $5K every year of disposable income. Many people will have to make hard decisions because of this and make cuts just to tread water. These cuts all cumulatively contribute to shrinking the economy. Not what is needed in fragile times like this. Removing money from taxpayers to fund an ever increasing public sector is now what we have to live with.
The shell game people bought into is frightening. If people think JT's middle class tax cut will leave anything after Wynne claws it all back then I have a deal on Swamp land to offer.
Semi's too may start going cheaper... I see an 1100 already posted on here coincidentally.
We will see what promises he can keep and does but it doesn't bode well based on what he has said....
as for future plans, I hoping the "reclassifications" don't include pump shotguns and "buy backs" like Australia, costs of exporting my grandfathers 100+ year old pump gun look like they are very high and my cousin isn't interested now. I plan on checking with other relatives.
As for next year.... do you think it will be single shot only or they still might allow double barrels?
http://www.stoegerindustries.com/condor-supreme-shotgun Not a fan of the single trigger so does anyone know if they are any good?
The wording will be crucial. Many double barrelled shotguns are in fact "self Arming" in that the recoil of the first shot arms the second hammer mechanism so in theory many O/U and SxS guns could be considered the same as a semi auto. I still own a 7600 pump .308 deer rifle which has a removable magazine and that one scares me. I can see legislation taking in thos as well. I also own a semi Benelli shotgun but not being high capacity magazine capable might slip through. Dunno.
The other thing is many countries restrict the total amount of guns one can own. I think Sweden is 6 only. The bureaucrats who will make those calls are antigun and now drunk with majority power.
I want to quickly comment on the middle class tax cut the liberals had promised. They promised to raise taxes on the "1%" to give a middle class a tax break but how much do people honestly think the liberals will raise taxes on the "1%" in order for the middle class to see any significant middle class tax break. What a great idea for the people in the middle class until they start to move into the "1%" which they will be subjected to this "Robin Hood Tax". (I put 1% in quotations because it is hasn't been defined to my knowledge and could include anyone)
China is beating it's chest about resources under the arctic circle. Anyone think JT has the chest hair to back them off?
How about our neighbours to the south? Right now, it looks like Trump has a decent chance to get the GOP nod and quiet possibly be the next president of the US. How is Trudeau going to handle this blowhard? Anyone?
Dyth
I predict both China and Russia are drilling in our Arctic borders within 12 months. JT will be useless in this conflict but it is coming quickly. My feeling is nobody should even think of oil extraction in the Arctic until we have exhausted every other potential source of energy. The Chinese have no moral compass and would do irreversible damage in that fragile environment.
There is an enormous difference in winning an election of mostly uninformed spoiled Westerners and dealing with world power dictators who have people executed for dissent. Different playbook.
I guess the same points that have been tossed around the past 4 years still apply. This sweeping majority was elected by 27% of eligible Canadian Voters, but the Liberal majority received a smaller percent of the vote than the previous 'illegitimate' Conservative majority. There was only a difference of 5.5% of possible eligible votes cast between the Liberal and the Conservative parties.
So, how fast will we see the ball start rolling on proportional representation?
The left do a wonderful job of conning voters. This Robin Hood syndrome is laughable. They hate the wealthy and say they don't pay enough taxes. A guy making $300k and paying $100k in taxes pays 5-10 times what the average Canadian pays yet really doesn't get anything more for the dollars paid. They don't drive on better roads, jump the Que for health care and typically spend more on services like education etc. So no, they do not rob the little people they actually subsidize them massively already. Trudough is a trust fund baby who won the DNA lottery with his name. If his name was Smith or Bergeron or Lee he would have never made it as party leader given his thin resume. Once again the Conservatives have shown how poor they are at campaigning. They did a pathetic job and given their financial advantage this should have never happened like this. We lost. They won. This is democracy, hopefully JT and Wynne screw up enough to at least finally dump that crooked witch next time.
I will be selling burkas shortly for your wives, daughters & girlfriends! Also I should change my handle to Bramladesh Mike! :)

Now back to baseball talk
I have more then enough to eat at home
Geez Gord haven't you learned yet? That the system is broken. I see Mooboy beat me to it. Despite all the proof anyone could want in Ontario (see the electoral map) and see now the Federal map......Quote:
I guess 70% of the people must know what they want , or better yet , what they don't want..
/whoosh
But then again your a have, instead of a have not.
The problems are a few not the least of which is First Past the Post, pandering and vote buying, Liberals in bed with rich urbanites/Unions, and Cons with the Rural vote. Federally you can add East vs West to boot.
I know it is broken. But is it more broken when you lose, as compared to if your party wins? And... I am not close to being part of the 1%.:ashamed:
If you look at the electoral map the divide of rural and urban voters is growing. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with trudeau's mandate of inclusiveness.
Ralph Goodale; our new Prime Minister.
Im not referring the so called 1% :) Im referring to
A) A resident of the golden Toronto, Red Toronto who Liberals throw money at, and not a rural Ontarian/Canadian
B) One of the minority with a Pension
So yep, your a "have". :)
Food for thought. The Median in Canada is 70-75k, duo income (the majority of whom don't have Pensions) thus Middle class, are getting pummelled. See Rural Ontario. And really have been since the 60s, trends are pretty clear.
And if you know me, Ive been (pardon the pun) Harping the need for electoral reform, well for the past 10-15 years.
there you go!!Attachment 31097
my riding lost by 1500 votes to Libs..... they've been pushing hippies up north from GTA ... oh man.

entertaining......
Haha.
Kind of reminds me of this http://www.ebaumsworld.com/jokes/read/80474459/
