See http://www.oodmag.com/community/showthread.php?81990 for announcement video from OFAH as well as link to media release.
still not expanding to other wmu's yet tho.
and still only one bear per season.
not complaining, great for those wmu's that have it.
but would be nice to expand into some of the other areas
Every area that currently has a fall hunt will have a spring hunt.. Whooo Hoooo
Great news. I can see us doing a Spring hunt at the deer camp to thin them out.
Their are second tags for some areas too. Great News.
I think there is a timing element involved with this announcement also? After the election? Let's be honest, many out there really do not know the difference between provincial and federal politics. If this came out earlier, it could have swayed many of the anti's. Maybe, maybe not? But the roar from the anti's is about to be heard soon no doubt!
More work to do around baiting and education but its more steps.
BIG thanks to those who got it and helped get this back! And the others who didn't, I hope you still enjoy the hunt!
and thanks to OFAH for....................??????????????? Being there on picture day ! Great job !!!
Small step but in the right direction! Good to hear.
....deleted my message.......read the link bushmoose provided....answered my ??
...cool thanks.....seen a vid of Jeff Leal ...thought it was just for the wmu's that already were participating in the pilot....on for another 5 years
Just returned from a moose hunt in 47, no tags . saw 5 cows, not one calf. Expect bears had a lot to do with it . Good news, glad to see the spring hunt coming back. old 243

I wonder if they will shorten the fall bear season?
Even with the new rules, hanging baits only, baiting only 2 weeks before hunt starts etc., to come with an expanded bear hunt, I'm satisfied!!
they are asking for baiting input. not law yet,,, I will provide info soon in another post on a good reply to the EBR. I understand why they are asking for input but reality is,,, we don't need to add limitations for no reason. some could be good but some are unnecessary.
can someone put up a link to the EBR
That baiting two weeks makes no sense. Not sure they are
putting that in or asking for hanging baits. If both are implemented the baiting two weeks could hurt the harvest numbers especially for those who can not bait every day.
I'm excited... Another hunt to plan for...

I don't think we should look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm just glad we got it back. It's our responsibility to adapt. I think I said this in another thread---Use it or lose it.
