Opening morning
Well i got my dad settled in his stand and i slowly crept my way down the trail to my new stand i built earlier this year. I arrived to hear the running of deer taking off from the apple pile. We have been getting some nice pics during mid day of a few good bucks so excitment was high. Settled in and just as it was getting light the doe with triplets came in for a munch. I didnt know it at the time but i had snuck in with turkeys roosted all the way around me. I relized it when one jumpped down and knocked a branch down onto my steel roof of the blind. I just about lost it. Anyways about 20 turkeys and 4 deer all within sight of me. I love being out here. Abit longer and i catch movement back deeper in the bush and its some deer running, looks like a couple of does. Hold on there is a nice buck hot on their tail. I grunted a few times and they kept running away. Oh well its early. Settle back down and i can hear a frieght train running thru the bush my way. Yea its the does running full tilt and they stop 20yrs out front. Quick scan and i see the buck coming nose down tail straight up. He stopped about 20yrds behind me but behind a tree. After about 5 mins he decides something is just not right and turns back and stood broad side with just his vitals open between 2 trees. Bang and down he went. 11pt real grey in the face. Haven't seen him on camera yet. Got him hung in the barn and back in the stand as i type this having a restfull afternoon. Good luck to all
