Sick and tried of moose hunters showing up for a week and leaving their garbage behind. I am going to start writing down plate numbers and reporting the pigs. Folks need to show some resect.

Just like every highway and county road in the country .every spot that is out of sight gets dumped on some spots get it every week .people just don't give a rats azz any more.not just hunters ..D
Yup its pitifull. Fisherman are bad for it too. I used to cringe every time I walked onto a local dam or shoreline and see the trash. Like dutch says its the way of the world. Sad but true.
Let's all hope for some Karma for these cityods.

here is an example of a dump site, even out in country next to port perry. it was cleaned up by town the week after I've sent them the photo in the email. haven't been back there in a month, should try upland or waterfowl soon.

Well I never did say it was city people!!! More to do with so called outdoors people, that think they know what is going on? Sad when folks have no respect for the outdoors. Besides the garbage in the bush I see people dumping garbage any place that they think no one is watching.
Just like people who open their door and dump out their ash tray in the parking lot.....When I was a smoker my single butts went anyplace, now loose butts get picked out of our gravel drive.

When it comes down to north vs south, I'm always amazed at how clean in comparison it seems as I drive through southern Ontario.
Following a trucker, he threw out a huge bottle of yellow liquid into the ditch along the highway. Guy pulled into a parking lot. I told him he should be ashamed of himself. Then realized he didn't understand what I was saying.
Local school picks up garbage each spring along the highway here.
Spent a week south of Timmins driving through the logging roads and atv trails. No end to garbage. Everywhere we walked, looked, stopped and drove we saw empty beer cans, pop bottles, etc. Its not a country vs, city thing. Its our culture. Its what parents teach their kids. I'll stand behind these words too.
I learned from a very young age to never litter. If I did I was sent back by mom or dad to pick it up. If I refused I got smacked. Todays generation has this sense of entitlement and lack of respect for authority. Its only going to get worse.
Listen stilchen67, go to the simcoe forests and see what country folk dump in them!
Visit the one across from tits and look at the mattresses dumped there, or farm equipment parts in Baxter, or other garbage piles in simcoe forests. Your probably one of those guys that dump your large trash items in the forest because your small town will charge you to take those items away. Who from the city would drive all the way to the country to dump their trash, pumpkins, and other yard waste. Not someone from the city, as it would get picked up from the curb every week. How about the other country morons that race their atvs and motocross bikes in County forests where it is no allowed?

Could be but mostly grown ups driving the highways. Bottles of yellow liquid thrown from vehicles are from travellers through our area!! Kids clean it up!!
Go to any abandoned mine site and look under the piles of rock and you will find garbage. The government and local jurisdiction that charge to dump garbage are also partly to blame.
Sixty years ago we all had a different outlook to garbage. Boats discharged sewage into the water and felt good if it went thru a macerater first. We were told to pierce both ends of our tins before they went overboard in deep water. Hunt camps, lumber camps etc would have a low spot to dump garbage.
We lived in Scarborough, north of Finch, east of 48 and each Saturday I had to take the garbage " out back" with the tractor and dump it in a gulley. As I travel thru different farms up here I often find trash piles, from the 60's and 70's, but these are in spots chosen by the landowner.....where they are out of the way.
What throws me is when I four wheel back into a campsite on a lake and find that someone has carried a toilet or couch into the otherwise pristine spot....
I had cafeteria supervision as a teacher in a high school. You should see a high school caf after the kids are done "eating'! You're right it's not going to get better. They look at you like you have two heads when you politely say "pick that up please and put it in the garbage pail (6-8 ft away)". Answer 9 out of 10 times - "It's not mine!"Quote:

I'm always disappointed to see things like this.
Whenever hiking and my two friends and i find trash at the campsite it always gets packed out by us if we can fit it.
I'm truly amazed sometimes about what people will bring with them and leave at a campsite 40-60km into an interior trail system.
Though the ones that are usually the worst, are the first few into the trail system. It's short enough people can drag coolers of beer and food to the site, but then not take the effort to pack out empty bottles cans or food containers/wrappers.
I think most of the time it has to do with pure laziness.

This disrespect for our resources pisses me off to no end.
I was on a road called Dyno rd one a Sunday morning. Came around a bend and there was a mini van stopped at the side and I saw bag of garbage being thrown into the ditch, as I pulled over and came to a stop about 50 feet behind them, saw 2 more bags had been thrown out. By this time they saw me and the driver came out and started to walk towards me.
I'm a amateur radio operator and had been talking to a friend on my mobile radio, he was at his home. I had raised him again and asked him to take down the mini vans license and description. As the driver came closer I rolled down my window and continued to give the details of the van and now the description of the fellow coming towards me all so that he could hear.
I can't recall all that was said but he did ask where the nearest dump was and I did make a comment it wasn't the side of the road. As this was going on 2 others from the van had loaded the 3 bags back in the van, they new they had been caught. I told him where the dump was and to follow me as a had to go there myself. They followed me down Hwy 28, I turned in to the dump and they kept going. I told the fellow at the dump what had just happened and he wanted all the information so I gave it to him, don't know whatever happened after that.
If this ever happened again I would be on the phone (now that I have a cell phone) to the police and let them handle it. I was too nice to these ????
They probably would have got to the dump and found that they could NOT leave their garbage without a dump card.....proving that they were from that township...
Not sure if "cityods" is a fair statement. I live in the city and never leave so much as a trace of my campsite behind. Not everyone from the city is a total douchebag.Quote:

Tim Hortons take out should have a surcharge (payable to the municipality) on all take out items as I think half the wrappers, cups, bags etc. end up on the side of the road!
Take out surcharge, me and my friends had discussed that during a hunt/fish outing way back when. There would be some flack at first but people would adapt, look at shopping bags for example

Good idea! I used to supervise a highway clean up with high school kids twice a year. Our garbage bags were filled with Timmie's refuse. Our clean-up happened to conclude very close to the local Tim Horton's. On a particularly cold, wet spring evening after the clean-up I popped into the Tim's and asked if they could spring for some hot chocolate for the kids in the clean-up. No can do says the manager. I have hunted all types of crown and public land and I have seen garbage of all types in all places. My guess is a lot of it is from local rural people who don't want to put it out at their place.
the worst I have found is a spot where multiple people must bring there ATVs to do oil changes, or its just where they leave the mess. tons of old oil containers and other garbage all piled up. I've also seen construction waste, probably entire truckloads dumped down ravines.
I cant wrap my head around what outdoorsmen doesn't see the consequences of their actions when making a mess at places where they are going to return to hunt or fish or camp. I guess they just figure someone else will take care of it. luckily no one I know thinks like that.

If you have ever moose hunted in logged out areas you will see multiple oil dump pits, skidder batteries and all kinds of garbage. Idiots are all over the place not just the city.
I think plastic water bottles are neck and neck with Tims cups for the most tossed items. At least Tims cups will eventually break down.
Each spring around here the local Tims sponsor clean up crews with vests, coffee and donuts for the annual road clean up.

Well my buddy and I bowhunt through the rifle season in lower Lanark Montague twp...on my parents place. A new group of guys were hunting the adjacent lands acrorss the sideroads from us this past 2 weeks with some of the older crew that hunts it every year. Ran into them a few times this past rifle season and they seemed like pretty good lads..was happy to see some younger guys outm Well last night at dark they pulled up on the road near where they know I walk in....dumped 3 garbage bags of rotting deer parts and 2 huge garbe bags spilling out with they're camp garbage, beer cans and old food. The comments were clear re my walk in spot... They didn't know I was out there and got their plates... Very dissapointing..zero respect..
