I still don't understand why the west needs to be involved. Let them all kill each other ,after all they have been doing it from the beginning of time.

That would be simple if that was the case, but,it's definitely NOT. These are radical fundamentalists that want to kill everyone that doesn't accept their faith including us.....especially us. They're all quite clearly NUTS!! We've seen,in glaring detail, that they're quite capable. It's better to fight them over there than fight them over here. That's a basic fundamental of warfare which this is without doubt.
Sorry dude, read a little, most Muslims are killed by these extremist groups, ISIS included, than any other religious group. This is not a group that segregates, it is all about power and they are using religion to incite that power, which is total BS and proven by their actions in Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, all of these Islamic nations that have attacks on them without the western media coverage.
This has nothing to do with religion. This has everything to do with men who want more power, and think people are dispensible. Religion has been used to disguise the true intentions of the "decision makers", and this isn't the first time that has happened.
Used as a brainwashing technique by men for thousands of years, the number of people killed in the name of god against people fighting in the name of god is amazing, one god vs the other god as their god is the wrong god, no matter what god the other one is wrong.
Religion has nothing to do with religious wars except to get people to suit up.
Read this excellent(imo) article to day . It summarizes "Syria in a Nutshell" and the USA's part. Gwynne Dyer is a renowned historian.

1) I'm guessing he writes from somewhere "safe" in the comfort of a plushy couch.
2) Despite acknowledging we played a large role in creating the problem. He obviously doesn't understand concepts such as honour, integrity, owning responsibility. Now is not the time to "bail" having made the mess. Nice of him to hang the French or Syrians out to dry. There are words for people like that.
3) Despite understanding that part of their plan, is and has been to draw the "West" into a conflict in order to gain popularity/power.
What happens when we "bail"? Well recent years (say the past 12 months) puts the lie to his logic, lack of back bone. Contrary to his "speculation" ISIL isn't backing off, they doing more (see just the week of Nov 14) and their atrocities are becoming more stomach turning, not less. In short, the more we back off, the harder they try to goad the west into what they want.
Historian he may be, doesn't mean he's right.
