Try vanilla
Peanut butter is good but it might freeze now. Here is a tip for you, get the cap of the peanut butter jar and from the inside screw it to the tree then screw back in the jar and drill holes in the bottom. When its hot the oils and peanut butter will drip. The only problem is the racoons might find it first. Set up a trail cam and see if it works.
I did a trial a few years back.....dismal failure as a deer lure.

I love that turkey pic MikePal you should submit that one for the trail cam contest.
apple sauce like a deer jam or something like that would work too.
I tried peanut butter a number of years back (monitored by a trail cam), didn't attract the deer. Someone suggested a mixture of peanut butter/molasses and so i tried that the following year. The bears enjoyed it.
The problem was, you forgot the jelly ! ;)
That was probably it, rick_iles. I'll let you know if the jelly helps:rolleyes:
If you want bears marmalade.
if you want deer late last year I tried the tinks doe estrous and was surprised of the big boys that showed up. Just not when I was there.
Kid next door put out some Buck Jam. The next afternoon he collected his camera. A nice buck had bedded down at 1pm. At 2:15 the buck stood up. At 2:16 the buck ran off and at 2:17 he rode in to collect the camera.....He knew nothing about the deer until he got home with the camera card....
Unless you know for certain there is a buck in the area..there is no way of knowing if it could of worked. Same as calling and rattling. I am quite intrigue with the bucks are coward thread. Not that there cowards but like us if you had a tuning by someone tougher your not likely to come into a potential repeat situation. When I was walking into my stand during the deer hunt I watched a bull moose bed down about 100 yards from my stand. I waited about 30 minutes and tried bull then a cow call about 15 minutes apart. He was a spike bull and he showed no interest in the least. I think about my strategies differently since reading that post. Best thing I have learned in a while.
