What is harrasment ??
I bow hunt some property which goes behind a couple of houses.
But where I have my stand is 2 fields behind the house in question..Probably 1000 yds or more..
But everytime She sees my truck or quad..she is out the door with air horns or pots and pans and radios blasting..
Pissing down rain she is trying to light a fire to smoke the deer out..
Qustion is...would this fall under bill C 655 ..on harrasment of hunting..??
I would thing so, I'd call the police and let them deal with it. There's no need for that and I for one would not put up with it...
Yup call it in left the authority have a chat with her. Follow up with some vid if it happens again. She won't bother you than

Video and sound, especially if your unit can show the date and time on it.

You said she has done this consistently so why give her the benefit of a note? Let the authorities deal with her. That's why the harassment bill was set for hunters.

She would charge u with trespassing the second you stepped on her property. As others have said report the idiot and if you can film it so much the better.
As long as she is within her property, it is not illegal for her to make noise. A peace officer will tell you to find another spot to hunt.

Not true. It's a judgment call as to whether her actions are intended to harass and to interfere in the hunt, or whether she's simply enjoying her property. Blasting the radio could be seen as her prerogative on her own property, but blowing air horns looks like harassment.Quote:

Under the fish and game act she can not interfere with a lawful hunt. It doest matter if she is on her land or not. I just recently started having problems on a property i hunt with the neighbours. Not only did they interfere with my hunt they called the OPP one time which resulted in my favour. Then she called a C.O on me, again resulted in my favour. The CO then told me if i catch her on video to contact him asap and they will charge her under the fish and game act.
If there is a by law, she might get warned.
If you are 1000 yards from her that is not going to interfere with your hunt. I bow hunt 100 yards from a gravel pit with dump trucks, loader etc. Hunted next to a police office and when they tested sirens the yotes would sometimes answer. Deer would bed within view of cruisers. Shot some nice bucks there but stopped hunting there because of (police) bow hunters it got a bit crowded. Keep a vehicle parked near her house 24/7 and let her have fun.
you can hear pots and pans banging almost a full kilometre away?
One time a vehicle drove into a clear cut and blasted the horn for about 2 minutes. About 20 minutes later, here comes a twelve point. It will affect you more than the deer you are hunting.
It's never fun to have an idiot bother your ability to hunt!!

You could always send her a nice Thank You note for making enough noise to move the Deer into arrow range and offer her a couple of nice venison steaks. I used the technique for a nut that lived next property I hunt and it worked like a charm. No more racket.

Section 13 of the fish and wildlife conservation act says you can't muck around with a lawful hunt. Sounds like this person fits the bill
But its like any legislation, its a matter of interpretation.

13. (1) A person shall not interfere with lawful hunting, trapping or fishing by,
(a) tampering with traps, nets, bait, firearms or any other thing used for hunting, trapping or fishing;
(b) placing himself or herself in a position, for the purpose of interfering, that hinders or prevents hunting, trapping or fishing; or
(c) engaging in an activity, for the purpose of interfering, that disturbs or is likely to disturb wildlife or fish.
If shes over 1000m away whatever shes doing isnt going to spook game anyways. In fact she may be spooking deer your way

We were shooting skeet at bancroft fish and game and a deer made us pause as it wasn't moving from the range. I have also had them poke their heads over the rifle range.
The deer I shot this year was close to heavy machinery working on hwy 62. 250 yards Away.
I was thinking the same thing. We used to have someone that would blow the horn on their vehicle for almost 1 km of road when they saw one of our vehicles parked on the side of the road. If I had of been able to ID the vehicle and then figure out where they lived I would have dropped off a similar note. Something like this...Quote:

I watched a doe and fawn moving along just out of range towards your property when suddenly a loud noise, possibly an air horn, caused the deer to turn back my way. The doe went by rather quickly so I couldn't quite get a shot. Thankfully the fawn took a little longer crossing in front of my stand as it had lost sight of the doe after she bolted at the sound. Of course, you can make it any kind of deer you like, but I think "fawn" would just drive the nail in a little deeper.
I did this with my neighbor over her tree that fell in my yard...4 days still did not remove. I put notice on her car garage door. By-Law showed up the next evening and threaten to charge me with tresspassing...no chit.... The tree was gone the next day....Quote:

I've done the very thing. Neighbour's would drive their field 30min before dark honking the horn and flashing lights durin the con trolled hunt. I shot 2 little bucks 5 minutes after that. I drove right up to her door and backed up under the light. Went right to the door and thanked her.
She was so mad she called me every name in the book and was nearly crying. She has never done the driving at dark thing again and we charge her double for hay for her hay burners....one of these city types that thinks she's owns all the wildlife and we shouldn't hunt our own property.
I know of a guy who was constantly harassed by a family who had a 1 acre severance off his 200 acre farm property. He politely asked them to give it up, and they told him to piss-off. He bit his lip, and patiently waited. Their daughter got married at their house that summer, and had a big guest list, outdoor catered dinner, and a big white rental tent. That's when he got the urge to do some nutrient management on his hay fields. He blew three full Heston tanks of liquid manure on the field, right up to their fence property line (all three sides), on the day of the wedding. There was liquid s*&t within 20 yards of the wedding tent. He waited until the guests started showing up. He then spent the winter playing with his triple auger snow blower on his tractor. Whenever there was a big dump of snow, he'd wait until they cleared their driveway, then he'd go over when they left for work. He'd whistle old Irish songs, as he blew their driveway back full again. Then he'd laugh. Sometimes he'd laugh so hard he'd almost piss his pants! His Horst 20 ton round bale haywagon also had a terrible run-out problem with the axle gearing, as it kept taking their mailbox out whenever he'd pass by their driveway.
Funny thing, they didn't bug him hunting again..............pretty much priceless.
LOL . Liquid manure has been used in quite a few retribution stories I have heard. That stuff when fresh could gag a maggot.

LOL Could probably apply to both retribution and original post. But I did post it for the original post, I do think the interfere with hunt would be better but a friendly visit by a LEO explaining the law might be the best solution.

I had a problem with a neighbour. we shared a road that was not recognized by the municipality, so it was private. everyone but him paid me a small amount to keep it plowed through the winter, they were all cottagers, one claimed he didn't need it. so, since i can access our road from either end (only 5 houses on the road), i plowed him in from both sides. everyone else had access, except him in the middle. he forgot that his kids use the cottage in the winter, and that he still needed the propane guys to be able to access his place to fill the tank... he didn't argue with me again.
not hunting related, but i think it speaks to the same point. that was one massive snow pile on the road at his driveway.

It depends, if you live on a farm, or in a subdivision, where a farm used to be. You could live 60 miles from 3 million people lets say in Barrie, then you would be city. My friends in Sundridge say anyone south of Orillia is city. They say they are going to the city, when they head to NorthBay for dinner.
Might be a handy time to recall that, according to StatsCan analysis of police-reported crime, the rate of violent crime in Canada is higher in rural areas than in cities. It is what it is, as they say.

As one guy only lives like 100 feet from her house..
She is not old by any means..
I was out the other nite.. and she only had her air horn..and radio.
Maybe if I can win the 649...I will buy the property and put up a 10' fence so she cant see back there...lol
