The NDP will be a one term government in Alberta and then never again. Even in the left leaning Ontario the NDP may never govern again. Notley got in on a protest vote just like Layton soared Federally. The right is in talks to unite the Conservatives and Wild Rose to prevent the vote split next time. Watch for the Alberta dippers to feather their nests big time during this mandate.
The parallels between ALTA and ONT are both interesting and scary, given it will impact Canada.
Notley is very reminiscent of Rae in more way the one. And really, its Bob Rae and the Unions we have to thank/blame for so much.
Rae got in by accident promising the moon...blew the wad, and that started so much. That spawned Mike Harris and the CSR. Spawned McGuinty and showering the Unions/PS with so much love 2000 to 2011 when he could no longer blow smoke and con people. By then it was too late (funny how today so many have forgotten the Drummond Report)...the damage was done. Or when civil servants moan about not getting raises the past 5 years, they forget how nice it was (to put it mildly) to be one from 2000 to 2010.
We were in hock up to our eyeballs, the Unions were in deep, PS had grown by leaps and bounds and some had gotten fat pay checks.
One thing the Globe article I linked doesn't really go into (have to love spins and some bias). Did Ontarios PS compensation grow at 3x inflation? Probably, doesn't mean all civil servants were seeing 6% raises to the peons 2%.
Either way, just as with Ontario, ALTA is eerily on the same track...Now couple with their economy being kneecapped, job losses and/or peons taking cuts and clawbacks....taxes taking off and more. As always those in PS (largely) will hold ground..And some don't understand why today PS is 11%-18% better off than private.......
Will be interesting to watch and just as interesting to see how young JT tries to cope with now the basket case of Ms Wynnes Ontario and ALTA an anchor around his neck. Not unlike ONT was an anchor around Harpers..Except I don't expect the left to attack JT for his record on the economy the way they attacked Harper (sweeping Ontario under the rug)
Notley had the chance to negotiate with companies in the oil field but refused to do so, the result was 80,000 oilfield workers unemployed. It seems to me the left is more autocratic than the Conservatives. Look at bill 6. And bill 5.It will be so bad, if WildRose and Conservatives join as neither party has a mandate to do so. The WR is not from the conservatives only a few members were. The WR is totally something different.

When Albertans go to the polls next election the NDP will be booted to the wilderness just like Bob Rae's NDP was in Ontario. They best squirrel away all they can now because they will likely never rule again in Alberta.
Definitely a one term party. But Notley did not create 47,000 government jobs, this is just bs. I wish she had created those jobs, a lot of the easterners would still be here.
Alberta is REALLY racing for the bottom now, freedom of speech is no longer being tolerated. Muzzling the media... makes me wonder if Ottawa is next in the race to the bottom.
