What she does in her private life really has little bearing on things. While she seems to relish the limelight given her recent performance, so the expected pass, may not apply as much. For the most part, be it Harper's wife (I don't even recall her name) or Ford's wife ( seem to recall many thinking the Star or left dragging her in was off limits), they don't sit at tables, sign treaties, truly "represent" us. And with only a couple exceptions (Maggie and Fords wife) they've been left alone.

The thing is she has made the decision to very much be in the spotlite. 2 weeks after winning she and JT did the photoshoot for Vogue, then she sang at the MLK ceremonies. There is a reason why she now needs 2 taxpayer funded Nannies to raise her children. Its because she misses the bright lights and now
has an audience again. What she does in front of a camera is for an audience and not her private life. This is not a home movie that got leaked. She is as much a narcissist as her husband, you can expect her to photobomb JT'S thunder as often as she can. When you conciously make that decision you lose the privacy status. The content of this clip is not what most people would expect from a G7 leader's wife.
Spouses generally should be.... Stephen Harper's wife however was repeatedly attacked by the left about many things, fiction and lies came out many times (affairs, lesbian affairs, separated....). She did lots of charity work and the reality was she seemed like a good and loyal wife, something alot of the left seems to extremely hate, hence the lies.

Since when do political players get a statute of limitations? How many times have we heard ( including here) that Harper worked in a mail room? She was a talk show media personality and got paid very well for being attractive on camera. Her husband got elected on his good looks and charisma. They both chose to step into the ring. The sketch was in poor taste. I personally don't care what she has done in the past. The way I see it the two of them have about as much depth as a car park puddle. I am more concerned about going forward given that the two seem to crave the limelight and this is a Prime Minister that is more about being 'celebrity' than being a leader.

Personally I think these attacks are for the most part are out of frustration from the public on this forum, Facebook etc . Provincially and Federally the Liberals are doing a horrible job of managing our tax dollars. Is this the new norm ?! I personally cannot accept this sort of behavior from the PM and his wife ! I will not show respect to these self serving people because they have no respect whatsoever for Canadians.
I applaud the Rebel media for revealing what the CBC has conveniently ignored reporting. If Sophie is currently behaving this way and has a past of behaving this way as well then she needs to be held accountable for her actions. It's bad enough JT is out of control and we as Canadians need to witness a balance while he is representing our country. It's sickening enough watching her sing off key during Martin Luther King day. I just cringe when I see them on the news because the majority of the time its something they are doing to embarrass Canadians.
Face or farce?
It has been said that when you enter public life you live under a microscope. No one ever said it was fair, but especially when they don't know you, they will dig to see what they can find. I am surprised the CTV didn't find this and drop her like a "hot potatoe" or maybe they did find it and hired her anyway. Given her previous position, this would have been considered quite unprofessional and most employers would have distanced themselves from her for this type of crude behavior.
One only has to look at her mother-in-law who is the poster child for inappropriate behavior. She however, at the very least gets a partial pass as she was later discovered to be suffering from mental illness. Whether or not she was at the time of her indiscretions is anybody's guess.
She is the first lady of this country and is therefore held to a higher standard as by default she represents our country.
I guess in the Liberals rush for the coronation of Justin, they forgot to investigate her background.

There are certain unwritten rules with respect to "first ladies" and families. Don't get me wrong, if she steps on a stage and sings an offkey song. Well by all means if people want to make fun of her, ( I still likely wont) she stepped on stage, to each their own. if shes in public in an official capacity (say a state dinner and drops a stink bomb?) Well yeah, she should be ripped then.

The difference between Harper and Sophie on stage singing is that he thoroughly enjoys making music as a hobby. Sophie on the other hand firmly believes she is the next Celine Dion.
