My brother found this along the edge of a river. if you look at the second pic the entire skeleton is there. what would have cleaned it so perfectly and how long do you think it was sitting in the bush?
if yotes were tearing at it the bones would have been spread around a bit?

By the looks of it I would say this past fall. Birds and small critters would clean it up pretty fast. Doesn't look like the mice and squirrels have found the antlers yet. Seal the skull and make a European mount
Nice find, may have been under water which prevented the yotes getting at it.
I would guess the river did a Grand job cleaning it up.

Take the head home and leave the rest. Buy some clear Shellac and Varnish and it should look pretty nice.
nice find it either drowned or shot and died in the river and then washed up now . I've found some creek bottom bucks but none as white and bleached looking as this one
I found one in about the same shape as you, back legs still attached.... I took the head home and did a Texas mount. It came out pretty good...

I can't really see what color are the antlers. If there are pretty white it has been seating there for a few years for sure. It also takes a few years for the squirrel and mice to get to the antlers too. Probably gun shot, hit by a car or drown....
