Sad news indeed but I am glad he is not suffering any longer. RIP Rob.
Hopefully he found peace in his last days. RIP
To early to go at 46 condolences to all his family members
Feel for the guy and his family.
He was "unfit" to be the mayor of TO, however the way he was treated by the media and public. Brutal.
Hopefully now it can be put to bed, along with him and serve as a lesson in a few ways.
True JBen , he had his demons but I don't doubt for a second that his heart was in the right place.
RIP Rob Ford. Tough way for anyone to go.
Well the big guy lost his battle to cancer today and has left a couple children and wife behind. He was a kind and giving man even with his weaknesses and demons. I know there are some here that will be glad to hear the news.
Agree lets keep it respectful.
Chatted with him on a few occasions throughout his term, and have the utmost repect for his passion for family, and the common hardworking man. RIP...........
Having passed at age 46 he's probably lived more and accomplished more than those who lived to 64.
Its always a sad moment when any life is lost at a relatively young age when there's so much more that they could have done.
I always liked the man. I did a job in the summer of 14 at NPS and he came out and jokingly told us all to keep it down. He talked and joked with everyone and and hour later had cold drinks delivered to everyone working the show set up. This was in the middle of his troubles and yet he still would talk to anyone. Most people coming out via the city hall entrance wouldn't give you the time of day. Saw that fall at Q's shawarma at bellfield and Martin grove and we thanked him for the drinks. He remembered it and then bought our crews lunches. Again people can say what they want but from my own experience he was a very cool down to earth one of us guy.
And thats how he should be remembered, not for the demons, not for the Jimmy Kimmel appearance but for being a kind man. He coached the football team for many years and when he heard some of his kids were struggling financially he would show up at their houses and fill the fridge with groceries for the family.
He returned every phone call he recieved sometimes over 200 a day. Thats how he should be remembered not by the addiction and the bs that came with it . He had demons for sure and was trying to fight through them but can anyone name another politician that gave out his home phone number with a promise to get back to you and try and help.?
I believe the best thing that could be said of Ford was that he was not a politician in the modern sense of the word. RIP
You can be sure the cops in Toronto would not allow the media to harass Horse face Wynne our any other politician in their own driveway like they did by standing back letting Rob fend for himself. He had his faults but he was a popular person with many people in Toronto.
RIP,Rob
