Hopefully everyone makes out OK.
Man an old retired guy...hope he hangs on the hunt another day.
Quote:
A 68-year-old man was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital at around 7 a.m. Thursday after he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
The incident, which occurred near No. 15 Sideroad and Guelph Line, appears to be a hunting accident, said Halton Regional Police Media Relations Officer Sergeant Barry Malciw.
The man is said to be in critical condition. Investigators with Halton police are on scene.
Holy......scary $ht........
What are you talking about ? At 68 , the poor fellow is barely past puberty . --- Lol --- You'll probably get there too , --- some-day . --- I'm 78 BUT don't consider myself as "ancient" yet . --- I exercise daily (weights etc.) , swim , hunt , fish , ride my motorcycle and ATV etc. --- They say : Age is just a number ! --- HA ! --- I wish that would be true ; EVERYTHING takes 3 times as long to do BUT that doesn't mean that it can't be done anymore . --- LMAO --- Hmmm , maybe I should color my white whiskers . --- Hmmm . --- Lol .
If I ever find the guy that called these "The Golden Years",I'm going to beat him within an inch of his life.:joker:
LOL so true.
Any updates on this?
The latest update I found is that he is stable condition and that they are still trying to figure out how he came to be shot. The article is from yesterday so maybe they will announce more today.

68 is not old, just more painful.
Remember you don't stop hunting because you get old, you get old because you stopped hunting.
sure hope this didn't involve a tail fan mounted to a gun.
Tail fan on a gun should not matter. If you can't see a beard you should not be shooting. That's it . pretty simple realy
or..taking a nap at the base of the tree and have someone across the field not see you and shot you by accident with a load of birdshot...
all sorts of scenario's, they say Turkey hunting is one of the most dangerous for a reason.
That is one of the reasons why public land turkey hunting scares me a bit. I hunt on a farm with three fields. You sign in to your field at the front gate, first come first serve. You sign out when you leave.
They are the golden years - if your healthy - keck - your retired, don't have to go to work anymore - do what you want when you want - you don't worry about that is going on in the world cause you too old to worry about it - you can look down on the young wippersmappers who are still wet behind the ears - if someone says something you don't like you can pretend you don't hear it - its the - if your healthy part that makes the difference -
Any news on how this fellow is doing. Have thy found out how it happened yet . nothing on are local news . Dutch
Haven't heard anymore on it. I live a couple concessions from the mishap. Hopefully all is good. Let's wait and see.

If you are asking about my situation, no it is not a lease. It is for hunter safety as well as to prevent people from accidentally interfering with another persons hunt. Also, the farmer wants to know if hunters are about at any given time.
There are a few of us, and we have each others contact info so we can check before hand if someone is going to the property if needed.
I had for a fifth time in three-year on a new place..private land I hunt. A guy walk in on my set of two hens gun shouldered atvten yrds with me hollering he stopped...with a pop up blind right in the corner of the field I was in Sat am.... it never ceases to amaze me how many idiots are out there. This is after OPP has been involved all month....hope the fella is ok...
Didn't get to chat, as he took off running when I got out of the blind he was gone; he didn't unload....400 acres and hard to police as they access from a creek running onto two concessions. Some trespass tickets issued..to little effect...
Has anyone heard any more information about this incident? I have hunted a few PO lands in that area...haven't since.
Thanks & safe hunting!
Nope , haven't heard a thing.
Nothing in the local paper this wee. Still waiting.

Not to be crass, but doesn't this break our safe hunting streak? I remember hearing during my hunting class about how hunting was actually one of the safest sports and how we'd gone years without an accident.
But maybe that was years without a fatal accident ?
I hope the fella pulls thru, sounds like his area was likely a Turkey hunt - only other running season right now would be black bear, would much rather be hit with turkey shot...
According to this stat below, hunting is the 3rd safest sport...only camping and billiards beat it out...
